YMMV / Once Upon a Time S6 E12 "Murder Most Foul"

Go To

  • Fanon Discontinuity: Fans did not react well to this episode's revelation that David's father Robert was murdered by Hook. First of all, Hook's stated reason for doing so - preventing King George from learning that Hook stole from him - doesn't make sense, which makes the twist very contrived. Hook would be in the wind by the time Robert had the chance to tell, and pirates generally want people to spread tales of their misdeeds, especially impressive ones like successfully stealing from a king, since it furthers their reputation. Nor has Hook ever been the type to be afraid of a king's wrath. Second of all, the twist ultimately leads to Angst? What Angst? as it doesn't impede Hook's friendship with David, who almost instantly forgives him and gets over it, nor does it make Emma hesitate to marry the man who murdered her grandfather. So the writers needn't have bothered with it in the first place.
