• Alternate Character Interpretation:
  • In-universe, there's serious questions whether Operations was a Knight Templar Well-Intentioned Extremist or whether he was just a power hungry Evil Overlord who had long since let his position go to his head. There's even a question whether he started as one and moved to the other.
  • Madeline is similarly someone who may be a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing or someone who is a Action Survivor that wanted to do anything to keep herself alive in a place that did not value anyone not useful. Her Manipulative Bastard tendencies also made it unclear whether she was ever genuine in her affection for anyone.
  • Nikita herself can be viewed as the Token Good Teammate of Section One or someone who is whiny, self-absorbed, and totally unwilling to bend in order to make things easier for her. Up to the point of endangering Michael, Birkoff, and other people who go to the bat for her.
• Ending Fatigue: The final season is generally considered to have been unnecessary and it would have been better to have ended it the season prior.
• Moral Event Horizon: May have occurred with Madeline and Operations around the time that they brainwashed Nikita or poisoned Michael's wife.
• Seasonal Rot: Season 5 is considered so bad as to be Fanon Discontinuity. It certainly didn't help that it had a shortened number of episodes than having the same amount of episodes as the first four seasons.
