YMMV / Halo: Mortal Dictata

• Alternate Character Interpretation: Was BB genuinely trying to help Naomi regain her memories, or was he simply manipulating the evidence under Parangosky's orders in order to turn her against Halsey (given that the revelations contradict what was shown in previous media)?
• Fanon Discontinuity: Even among people who were willing to give Traviss a clean slate after Legacy of the Force and the Mandalorian worship, many have said that the novel's just boring, likely as side effect of the games picking up the more interesting plot-points.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • It's debatable on whether the plot involving ONI starting the Sangheili Civil War, as well as creating the inedible crops in an attempt to wipe the Sangheili out altogether, or Jul 'Mdama escaping ONI confinement with knowledge of both plans were actually good, but due in part to most of these plots being continued in the games, all three were essentially dropped in Mortal Dictata in order to focus on two things, Naomi confronting her Insurrectionist father and more Halsey bashing.
  • With regards to plot threads within the novel, the subplot involving Chol Von's attempt to create a unified Kig-Yar navy (one of the few parts of the book to not break the base) gets unceremoniously dropped towards the end, with the fate of Chol and her shipmates left unresolved.
