YMMV / Good Doctor

Go To

  • Values Dissonance: The treatment of autism is very different in Korea than the US, and this is even in 2013 at one of the top hospitals there. They mention that "the mentally disabled" aren't even allowed to become doctors, say that Si-on is "psychologically retarded" and ask how far "cured" he is. Those who are most supportive of him regard that he is "quite well cured" and Dr. Choi proudly tells the board that he was "declared normal at age 17". The arguments as to how fit he is to be a doctor are different than the remake for this reason, which focuses more on communication with patients than this show, which openly calls it letting someone "with a child's mind" operate.
