YMMV / Girl's Day

Go To

  • Fandom Rivalry:
    • With A Pink's Pink Pandas, as both groups have opposite appeals and are considered the two most popular "new generation" girl groups in South Korea. A lot of slutshaming comes from Pandas to Girl's Day, while Daisies accuse A Pink of being boring and Pandas of being hypocrites, as the aegyo concept is as much of a fetish for Asian men as the sexy concept is. Interestingly, Hyeri/Hayoung and Minah/Eunji are close friends.
    • Some members of Sistar fandom, Star1, also see the groups as rivals since Girl's Day became a quartet and adopted a similar approach to their group. That's especially true when the topic is "Alone" vs. "Something". Howhever, many enjoy both and that usually leans to a friendly rivalry.
  • Fanon Discontinuity:
    • Many fans pretend "Tilt My Head" and "How About Me" never existed. They might also ignore "Nothing Lasts Forever" altogether to treat "Twinkle Twinkle" as the group debut.
    • There are also fans who prefer to ignore their years as a quintet, counting only "Don't Forget Me" onwards.
  • Growing the Beard: "Nothing Lasts Forever" was considered an improvement over the two first singles. Then came "Twinkle Twinkle", their first true hit, which the following singles kept trying to emulate its success. Then came "Don't Forget Me", a step out of their typical aegyo formula, achieving a moderate success. Then came "Expectation", taking their carreer to a whole new direction and becoming their second smash hit. And then came "Something", which was an even greater departure from their previous sound and is now arguably their new Signature Song.
  • Tough Act to Follow:
    • After the success of "Twinkle Twinkle", Dream Tea tried to go on the same aegyo formula over and over again. The music video of "Hug Me Once" starts with "Twinkle Twinkle" playing on the background at the beginning of the video; the lyrics for "Don't Flirt" are suspisciously similar to their then-only-hit; "Oh My God" is an even more obvious try at a Twinkle Twinkle 2.0, including its music video, which features Minah wearing the same outfit and the love insterest making a cameo. When they finally left the formula, new hits came and the popularity quickly rose.
    • The post-"Something" era may also count, as "Darling" became a hit, but was nonetheless overshadowed by the still ongoing popularity of the former.
