• Fanon Discontinuity: Some fans of Family Guy prefer not to watch this episode and not consider it canon as they found several perceived flaws with the episode. They criticized the episode for continuing the forced Brian/Ida relationship, having the actual plot only kick in two-thirds of the way into the episode, and for letting Quagmire get away with ruining one of Brian’s relationships.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Quagmire is supposed to sympathetic, as he opposes Brian's relationship with Ida; however, the fact that he essentially forces her to give up her chance at happiness so he can have her all to himself makes him come off like a spoiled baby.
