YMMV / Disney Villain Songs (Lydia the Bard)

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Camilo is seen running towards Mirabel near the end of her villain song, a hand outstretched towards her. Is he trying to reach the candle, or Mirabel herself?
    • Are the tears Alma sheds at the end of Isabela's song Tears of Remorse as she realizes just how deeply she wronged her granddaughter? Or is she crying more over the loss of the "perfect", idealized future she was trying to force her into? The fact that she can be seen desperately reaching out to her at the end implies the former.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • Tinkerbell flies circles around Wendy as she's falling, but it's not just for visual appeal. After taking their pixie dust away, the other fairies saved Peter and the Lost Boys, and Peter saw that. Tinkerbell is flying around Wendy and pretending to try to save her with pixie dust, this way Peter won't suspect Wendy's death was on purpose and try to leave to get away from her.
    • The pirate ship appears, but Captain Hook and his pirates are noticeably absent, and unlike canon Tinkerbell never considers using Hook to eliminate Wendy. Captain Hook in canon had been trying to kill Peter and the Lost Boys, and Tinkerbell has come to the realization that if something happens to the child whose laugh birthed a fairy, that fairy dies too... it's highly possible Tink and her friends already took out the pirates so they could never harm the children.
    • Tinkerbell's and her fairy friends' actions in her song is actually very accurate to old fae stories. Fairies would often steal children from their homes and whisk them away to Fairyland. They're also extremely possessive creatures, and in folklore have been known to kill people for entering their domain.
  • Fridge Horror:
    • Throughout Mirabel's villain song, Casita makes no effort to either keep her away from the candle or to shield the family from the collapsing pieces of itself. The latter is especially a stark contrast to the movie, in which even in its final moments it shoved the family out to safety. Casita approves of what Mirabel is doing.
    • Wendy's parents will never know what happened to her. As far as they'll know, they went out to a party that night and will come home to find their only daughter missing. On top of that, if that part of the movie is still canon, the last thing Mr Darling will have ever said to her is a harsh scolding.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Belle quietly endured years of the whole village mocking her and her father, resolving to put up with it until she could go somewhere better. Then the Beast took her father prisoner and she had to give herself up. Flashbacks throughout the animatic show that even while she plotted her revenge she had moments where she cried, desperate to escape her situation both at the castle and the village.
