• Audience-Alienating Era:
  • While her time in WCW is perhaps the thing she's most remembered for, and especially her storyline with David Flair, the time she was basically (and sometimes literally) in a tug-of-war over David with Miss Hancock made a lot of fans go "blegh".
  • The Governor angle was pretty dumb. It lasted for months before TNA figured out she didn't need it.
• Badass Decay: Had to work a whole lot of this off after getting her ass kicked by Miss Elizabeth. It wasn't even a quick and done thing such as when Sherri Martel was tossed out of the ring. Then Impact hired her to job to (the already-over) The Beautiful People and other new acquisitions.
• Character Rerailment: After The Governor angle was mercifully ended, Daffney returned to being her original gimmick with a dark twist and was involved in far more interesting angles and matches before her sad retirement due to injuries.
• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • As alluded to on the trope list, Daffney remained popular even after jobbing to Miss Elizabeth of all people. Also, the existence of Shark Girl is the result of this phenomenon.
    DDT Digest: If only WCW had wrestlers as dedicated to their performance in the ring as Daphney [sic] is to hers outta the ring.
  • Her appearances in TNA drew high ratings and got the crowd hot, despite being a heel and losing most of the time.
• Funny Moments: At a SHINE show in 2013, Jessie Belle made her debut and did the splits on the ring apron as part of her entrance. Daffney does a fantastic Double Take at the sight of this.
• Harsher in Hindsight: People liked to mock how tame her First Blood match with Tara was - as there was only a small trickle of blood compared to the men's matches. But sadly the spot that caused the blood, Daffney getting hit with the toolbox, is one of the concussions that led to her early retirement and ended up having a lasting effect for the rest of Shannon's life, to the point where she blacked out all the windows in her apartment because direct sunlight often gave her headaches.
• Heartwarming Moments: By all accounts, Daffney out of character was one of the sweetest people to her fans, as a glance at any fan story will tell you.
• Older Than They Think: She was doing the screaming goth gimmick years before Paige got her teeth into it. She had a lot of similarities to Victoria as well - and appropriately enough they feuded in TNA.
• Overshadowed by Controversy: It seems that the stories of her being mistreated by TNA management are what she is best remembered for - at least in her time there.
• Retroactive Recognition: She has a role in Santa Claus: The Movie as a bratty teen.
• Spiritual Successor:
  • WCW Daffney - A.J. Lee, particularly her romantic obsessions and skipping her way to the ring.
  • TNA Daffney - Perhaps her closest in the 2010s would be Paige (heel version).
• Suspiciously Similar Song: She had a theme in TNA that sounded derived from Scorpions' "The Zoo".
• Vindicated by History: Her run as WCW's Cruiserweight Champion. At the time it was during Vince Russo's run as booker and thus overshadowed by a whole lot of stupid, if not held up as a example of it (the match Daffney and Crowbar won it in involved traditional non wrestler Tammy Lynn Sytch and was basically won by Chris Candido). As time has gone on, most people forget about the general atmosphere and just remember what Daffney did, thus thinking back on it much more fondly.
