YMMV / Carry On Columbus

Go To

  • Fanon Discontinuity: Many fans disowned it before it was even released, considering that many of the regular actors were either too old or dead at the time. The ones that watched it did eventually disown it, mostly convinced that the replacement actors seemed to be imitating how the regulars would have performed the characters if they were available. The film has since been, like Carry on Laughing!, quietly released on DVD and was (surprisingly) removed from the movie series boxset.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Rik Mayall is clearly having a blast.
  • Sequelitis: Though fans argue whether this film is better or worse than the late 1970s entries, which went full steam ahead into Awful British Sex Comedy territory, it is still considered a very poor film either way.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Jon Pertwee is shockingly wasted in a blink-and-you'll-miss-him cameo. Also, Rik Mayall is a delight but is only in the opening scene.
  • Took the Bad Film Seriously: Poor Jim Dale is really trying his damnedest.
