• Complete Monster: Magister Nenealeus is a powerful Tevinter slaver who is famous for putting all his slaves through especially harsh abuse and suffering. Sending Cedric Marquette to retrieve a magical sarcophagus and information about red lyrium, which led to many deaths, Nenealeus choose Shirallas among the elven slaves to serve as the subject of his next experiment, while ordering the rest of the elven slaves to be killed. Transforming dozens of his human underlings into feral blue humanoids, who remain in extreme pain before they explode, and sending them as "bombs" to kill the heroes and Qunari warriors, Nenealeus reached the Dark Fortress and completed his experiment, transforming Shirallas into an "ultimate warrior", openly planning to use him and his dragon to wage a bloody war upon the entire Thedas.
• Fanon Discontinuity: Fan's had some grievance over the flashback of Fenris receiving his markings. Particularly that he was blond with white skin. Until then, the Fanon was that his hair was originally black, or at least dark, and he was always Ambiguously Brown. So the reveal that he really started out the exact opposite of that left a bad taste in a lot of mouths.
• Heartwarming Moments: It is rather sweet to see Fenris spend a panel in Issue 2 gushing over Autumn. At the request of a fan, Fenris' voice actor even recorded the scene in the character's voice.
• Just Here for Godzilla: From the announcement alone, many fans were excited to read the comic just to see Fenris again after his absence in Inquisition.
• Tearjerker: Fenris initially rebuffs Vaea’s offer of an alliance because of what happened after Meredith’s death in Kirkwall, when Hawke’s companions were (at least temporarily) forced to separate.

  Fenris: People only use you for as long as they need your power. And then they leave you. As I leave you now.

  • Francesca breaks down in tears after being forced to kil her father in Issue 3. It’s doubly sad when you consider she had lost her brother only days before.
