- Ho Yay: There are a few moments of Les Yay in the pilot that some fans use as shipping fodder:
- Becky is not only completely disinterested in Norville, but clearly protective of Ello, defending her from Jessie's bullying about her weight, and Ello is the only person Becky ever treats with complete respect. Hell, part of why she even came back from the dead (aside from getting revenge on Jessie and her posse) was to be able to hang out with Ello on the bench and smoke together. For someone so cynical, it's surprisingly sweet.
- Ello is the only person in the whole school who seems to be mourning Becky's death at all, and she even keeps her last cigarette as a Tragic Keepsake.
- There is a light hint of Foe Yay Shipping between Jessie and Becky, if only because both have a habit of getting up close and personal in each other's faces, especially since Jessie also flicks Becky's breast.
- It also doesn't help that Becky's punishment for Jessie is to literally sit on her face (while she is a bench, but still), and Jessie's biggest complaint is that her jeans aren't designer.
- Uncertain Audience: Many viewers came to the conclusion that the premise of the pilot falls into this problem. As the adventures of a moody High School girl, it's too mature to be a kids show, with all the cussing and implied violence, but it's also far too tame to be considered adult entertainment. You could argue that it's trying to appeal to teenagers, but that market is tenuous at best.
