Yeah, yeah we're the Eggs
Come along everyone
Yeah, yeah we're the Eggs
And we're having fun
Yeah, yeah we're the Eggs
Finding sounds and adventures on a musical journey
Yeah, yeah we're the Eggs''
Come along everyone
Yeah, yeah we're the Eggs
And we're having fun
Yeah, yeah we're the Eggs
Finding sounds and adventures on a musical journey
Yeah, yeah we're the Eggs''
—Theme song from the TV show.
The Eggs is a 2004-2005 Australian/Canadian animated series that was broadcast on Australia's Channel Nine until 2009. It stars four eggs from the planet Kazoo, each with a pun for their name - Benedict (Ben or Benny for short), Yolky, Scramble, and Sunnyside (Sunny for short). They travel the Looneyverse in search for new music sounds aboard an egg-shaped spaceship named Shelly with internal robotic equipment.
This show provides examples of:
- Automated Automobile: Shelly is a self-piloted spaceship with a talking screen.
- Call a Smeerp a "Rabbit": In one episode, Shelly gets filled with 'Peanuts', which are actually pink balls of fluff with faces. The only thing they have roughly in common with actual peanuts is their size.
- Mirror Self: The Anti-Eggs, who are the punkish-looking violet versions of the Eggs in another Looneyverse.
- The Napoleon: Yolky is slightly smaller than the others (you might not notice, but they sure do), but she sure can have a fiery temper.
- Planet of the Week: Almost every episode takes place somewhere new in space.
- Punny Name: The four eggs themselves, alongside Shelly and their hovering robot Eggor.
- Sentient Vehicle: Shelly's concept plays with this - she doesn't have a face on the front, but she has a robotic interface inside her that can talk to her passengers.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: When the eggs first meet Tee Hee on Planet Jollywood, she resembles a stereotypical cavewoman, wearing a bone in her hair, and a leopard-like skin on her body. However, before Tee Hee marries King Ha Ha and becomes queen, Sunnyside gives her a makeover and gives her a beautiful purple dress and matching turban, leaving her nearly unrecognisable as what she was before. Once she has been changed, her head also somehow becomes rounder, which begs a little more explanation...
- Space Romans: Planets based on real-world historical periods have been seen, such as Jollywood (inspired by medieval Europe) and Wailing World (inspired by the Wild West).
- Team Mom: Not only is Shelly the Eggs' mode of transportation, she also helps them out when they need and even says goodnight to them. She also has a dislike of bugs and messiness.
