Scribe Elder Ho-Tan is a trans woman.

This one is supported by Ho-Tan's actor, Laurence Rickard—what makes it WMG is that they never come out and state her gender outright. The evidence is there, however:

  • When the Elders are going crazy, Elder Flowers invites Ho-Tan to disrobe like him. Ho-Tan is uncomfortable with the idea, especially when Flowers says they're "all the same" under their clothes—body dysmorphia.
  • Ho-Tan insists she's happy not wishing for anything, until she gets longer eyelashes; given the choice to wish for anything in the world, she says "Also I wanna be a woman," without hesitation. She also seems much more confident while the wish is in effect.
  • When the Elders' Youngers are sharing their secrets, Younger Elder Ho-Tan—played by a girl—says "I'm a boy!". Laurence Rickard has said that this was a reference to Scribe Elder Ho-Tan also being trans.
