The race isn't ogre yet.

Shrek Smash N'Crash Racing is a racing video game based on the Shrek franchise. It was released on November 2006 to the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance by Activision.

Tropes include:

  • Big Boo's Haunt: Haunted Woods.
  • Big Fancy Castle:
    • Far Far Away Castle revolves around the fancy castle of Far Far Away. Fireworks go off every which way, knights patrol the area, and there are lots of secret areas.
    • Dragon's Castle and Dragon's Lair also incorporate different aspects of the titular castle, with the former focusing on the lower external areas and the latter focusing on the higher internal areas.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Little Red from Shrek 2 is a playable racer.
    • Humpty Dumpty from Shrek SuperSlam is a playable racer.
    • After being absent from Shrek 2 and the previous games based on it, Thelonious appears as a playable racer here.
  • Canon Foreigner: Goldilocks makes her debut in this game, but hasn't appeared in any of the moviesnote .
  • The Cameo: Lord Farquaad's ghost from Shrek 4D appears as a track obstacle in Haunted Forest.
  • Death Mountain: Mountain Pass and Dragon's Castle are both mountainous tracks with loads of rocky areas.
  • Eternal Engine: Both Potion Factory levels: the Exterior covers the outside while the Interior covers the inside.
  • Excuse Plot: There's a cutscene that plays upon starting the tournament involving Shrek and Gingy competing against each other and deciding to race after Donkey creates mounts for them, Fiona, Pinocchio and himself, but beyond that there's no plot whatsoever.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: Shrek can race with the likes of Prince Charming and Thelonious, who were villains in the movies.
  • Green Hill Zone: Shrek's Swamp is a grassy area which happens to be the first track in the game.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Every character pulls out a different weapon for their melee attack. While some characters like Shrek (club) and Thelonious (stone ax) wield reasonable weapons, others are a bit stranger: Donkey swings a microphone, Prince Charming whacks other racers with a mirror, and Goldilocks wields a giant Funny Spoon.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Donkey accidentally shrinks Dragon down to the size of the other mounts via misuse of Fairy Godmother's wand.
  • Lethal Lava Land: Dragon's Castle features plenty of lava to go with its mountain areas.
  • Level in Reverse: There is a mode that can mirror the tracks.
  • The Lost Woods: Green Forest.
  • Magic Carpet: The Three Little Pigs ride a flying carpet.
  • Slippy-Slidey Ice World: Mountain Pass is a mountain range covered in ice, with one section revolving around an ice cave and other areas utilizing it as a hazard.
  • Your Size May Vary: To justify him being Red Riding Hood's mount, Big Bad Wolf is much larger than any depiction before or after this game. He completely dwarfs Red, when in the Shrek 2 game he was only slightly taller than she was.
