Bat Boy is a Platform Game released on May 25, 2023. Developed by Sonzai Games and published by X PLUS Co., Ltd.. It is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows (Steam), Xbox Series X and Series S, and Xbox One.

After facing an unknown enemy that brainwashed the whole team (all but one) it’s up to Bat Boy and Gaoru to save them and the world.

Tropes:

  • Always Someone Better: Captain Ace envied Bat Boy being the leader of the team.
  • Attack Reflector: Bat Boy's bat can knock enemies' projectiles back at them.
  • Batter Up!: The Protagonist, Bat Boy wields a…well, you get the picture.
  • Big Boo's Haunt: Cliff Manor is a mansion that’s home to all sorts of ghosts, it’s also where you’ll find Basketeer.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Everyone in Bat Boy's team, including Garou, except himself and Captain Ace. Even Azaros qualifies.
  • Colour-Coded Timestop: Hit the red orbs in Stage 7 to slow down time. While time is slowed, the stage turns grey.
  • Deadpan Snarker: For a bird, Garou has the wit of a comedian.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: Normal enemies explode when defeated. Defeated bosses just fall down, but both Gentaro's flying machine and the Final Boss undergo a Post-Defeat Explosion Chain.
  • Dual Boss: Mr. Blitzer's second form has him split into two bodies. Only his purple body can be damaged.
  • Eternal Engine: Nuts 'N' Bolts is a factory that’s all tech, it’s also where you’ll find Blazing Star.
  • Goomba Stomp: Bat Boy's aerial attack can be used to bounce off both enemies and springs.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Your standing bat swing knocks enemies backward and potentially into others.
  • Heart Container: Crafting a Red Tonic permanently increases your maximum hit points by one.
  • Jungle Japes: Windy Forest, despite the name it’s really a jungle, is home to all sorts of fauna and flora, it’s also where you’ll find Starlet Twirl.
  • Lethal Lava Land: Molten mines has lava flowing, and it’s where you’ll find Mr. Blitzer.
  • Mirror Boss: Azaros. He has a similar fighting style to Bat Boy and the same baseball motif as him. Makes sense, considering who he is to Bat Boy.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: The Big Bad's name is Lord Vicious.
  • One-Winged Angel: The true form of Lord Vicious is the giant flying Vicious Maximus.
  • Palmtree Panic: Oceanside, despite not having any, is a beach that’s near the ocean, and has crabs, it’s also where you’ll find Aquaria.
  • Pinball Projectile: Mega Smash has Bat Boy hit a ball that bounces around.
  • Red Is Heroic: Bat Boy's primary color is red.
  • Retraux: The graphics and music are 8-bit.
  • Ship Level: Ship Armada is a bunch of flying ships in the sky, and it’s where you’ll find Racket Girl. The level is also a Gangplank Galleon.
  • Sinister Swine: Most of the normal enemies are pigs.
  • Slippy-Slidey Ice World: Frozen peak, is on a mountain that’s covered with snow, it’s also where you’ll find Shinai Guy.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Captain Ace, since he is the only one who willingly joined the villains.
  • Victor Gains Loser's Powers: After defeating each boss, Bat Boy gains one of their techniques.
  • Weakened by the Light: Some ghosts are invincible in the dark, but turn the lights on and they will be vulnerable and stunned.
