  • "Violet Hill" originated from a very early song named "December", from which its first verse was written by Chris and Jonny in 1997 prior to the release of the Safety EP from the year after, and it only took eleven years for the song itself to materialize.
  • "Lhuna," a collaboration with Kylie Minogue, was originally supposed to be on this album before being left off for being too sexually-charged. It was released as a charity single for World AIDS Day instead.
  • A song titled "The Man Who Swears" was supposed to be released on this album, but the band couldn't quite figure it out. Thirteen years later, a completed version called "People of the Pride" was finally released as a single for Music of the Spheres.
