  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: In Why Shrek 2 is a Perfect Sequel, he mispronounces John Cleese's name as "John Cheese". "Cheese" was actually Cleese's father's original surname, which he changed when he enlisted in the army during World War I for obvious reasons.
  • Approval of God:
  • Ascended Fanon: His commenters renamed Rumplestiltskin to "Shane Dawson" long before Schaff himself used that comparison in his Shrek 4 review.
  • Breakthrough Hit: "Why Disney's Twist Villains Don't Work" was easily the video that brought in a majority of viewers. According to his Twitter page, it was the video that changed his life.
  • Creator's Apathy:
    • In his Blue Sky Studios Ranking Video, he pretty much explicitly states that he made the video solely out of the obligation of people expecting him to make a ranking video of every major animation studio. He repeats in the video multiple times that he has no strong positive or negative feelings for the studio or any of their works (with the exception of Robots), and considers the vast majority of their films to be of similar mediocre quality. When the video got taken down about a year later due to copyright, he admitted getting it back up would be an easy fix, but didn't even bother doing it due to the backlash from Rio fans over his ranking of those movies (and then he reuploaded it on April Fool’s Day, moving Rio 2 to #1 to spite the fanbase).
    • In 2024, James announced that he no longer had any passion for videos about mainstream animated movies at all. While he wasn't going to stop making videos about them outright, he said that he would only make them to fund more personal videos about musicals, video games, directors, and Star Wars.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • Schaffrillas deeply regrets the gag of Stan Lee getting killed in "Spider-Boy Fights The Green Gollum" in light of Stan Lee's death just nine days after uploading it.
    • In his revisit of Better Call Saul, he admits that he isn't too fond of his initial review of the show in hindsight, finding his analysis to be fundamentally flawed due to unfairly comparing it to Breaking Bad instead of evaluating it on its own merits, him neglecting to mention the many positive aspects of the show and season 6 causing him to re-evaluate and rethink his feelings towards the show as a whole.
  • Died During Production: Editor Chris Schaffer and James' brother Patrick managed to film appearances in a couple of upcoming videos before the two were tragically killed in a sudden car crash.
  • In Memoriam: His Beauty and the Beast Be our Guest Reanimated collab was dedicated to Angela Lansbury, who voiced Mrs. Potts in the movie and who passed away in the 11th of October of 2022.
  • Magnum Opus Dissonance: James doesn't seem entirely happy with being primarily known for his animation videos while his videos about live-action movies, video games, and live theater tend to be less popular. He's expressed surprise that his Megamind review is his most popular while extremely heartfelt, personal videos like his Hadestown review are ignored. In his Whisper of the Heart review, he said that he "wished you guys cared a bit more about musicals."
  • Meaningful Release Date:
    • He released his review of the third season of The Owl House on April 14th, which was the birthday of his late brother Patrick, who reviewed the two previous seasons with him and helped him get into the show.
    • Similarly, on October 9th, he uploaded a review of the mockbuster What's Up? Balloon to the Rescue!. That same date was the birthday of his best friend Chris, who James had a series with where they reviewed other mockbusters and who died in the same car crash as Patrick. James also said that that video is gonna be his very last mockbuster review.
  • Milestone Celebration:
    • Plinktan and Krabz Get Steamy is his 50th poop, as commemorated by the special intro. It also happens to be his first poop to feature Spongebob Squarepants as the main source. A few days later he uploaded this video, a parody of Disney's countdown of the first 50 films in the Disney Animated Canon, featuring snippets of the 50 poops he had made up to that point (including collabs).
    • He also hosted a collab based on Arthur not only to commemorate the show's 25th anniversary, but in order to pay tribute to it since the 25th season that aired earlier that year was also the show's last.
  • Missing Episode:
    • The Lightning McQueen episode of his "Will They Be in Smash?" series has been removed.
    • His Pokémon Detective Pikachu review was blocked for unknown reasons.
    • His original rendition of the ranking video for Blue Sky Studios, featuring his honest opinion over Rio 2, where he admitted that he thought it was worse than the first film, but he got more ironic enjoyment out of it, was blocked due to it containing copyrighted music. He decided to keep it blocked as a response to viewers who have harassed him over his opinions on Rio 2, as they were angry that he didn't hate the movie enough, only to later upload an altered version of it with the segment covering the film removed and a different ending, serving as an April Fools' Day prank.
    • His "Why Elsa is a Terribly Written Character" video was made private for unknown reasons.
    • His videos about Rick and Morty season 3 were taken down for unknown reasons.
  • Schedule Slip: James originally intended to release his review of Clone Wars season 3 review with Patrick in December 2022, but due to the end of 2022 already being packed with other projects, it was pushed back to early 2023. However, after Patrick's tragic passing, the review was put on hold, though James has said that Patrick had finished his part of the review before his passing.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers:
    • "Spingebill Awakens a Very Steamed Clam" was eventually hit by a copyright violation claim, and can currently only be seen through re-uploads done by other channels and reaction videos.
    • "Spingebill Jams some Juicy Jellies" got hit with a similar claim.
    • His CI Ape video was blocked in certain countries because of a copyright claim.
    • His Dear Evan Hansen review was blocked by a copyright claim.
  • Sleeper Hit: His video "Why Megamind is a Subversive Masterpiece" is his most viewed video, and his channel saw a huge boost in subscribers after it was uploaded.
  • What Could Have Been:
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things:
    • Schaff has indicated on Reddit he scrapped his video on How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World over the backlash he got for his review of the second film where he called it good, but the weakest one.
    • After his ranking video on Blue Sky was blocked for containing copyrighted music, instead of fixing the situation, James decided to deliberately keep the video blocked to the public (making it a Missing Episode in the process) as a response to those who have harassed him over his ranking of Rio 2 because he put it above the first film, even though he said he didn't like the movie and admitted it was worse than the first but he got more ironic enjoyment, with his tweet announcing the decision calling them out and saying that they are responsible. He later re-uploaded it on April Fools' Day, but with his original discussion of Rio 2 removed and the ending significantly revised, where it claimed it was the best movie ever as a Take That! to those who harassed him for merely disliking the movie as opposed to outright hating it.
