Trivia / Panda Bear Daycare

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Bob Stutt plays Panda, Coolidge, and Doc the Mouse.
    • Karen Valleau plays Sophie and JP.
    • Nina Keogh performs Hannah and Mrs. Dickory.
    • Robert Mills performs Nathan and Wally.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • Despite being made by people that worked on famous children's shows such as Fraggle Rock and The Big Comfy Couch, this show has never been fully archived for the public, to the point where panda-themed daycares in real life quickly show up if you look up the show on the Internet. The company that owns it never bothered releasing all the episodes online or on home media. Only two VHS tapes were released in 2001, with two episodes each, and only one tape was recorded and archived on the Internet.
    • Besides the aforementioned recorded VHS release, the only clips on the Internet are an unlisted “trailer” on Boat Rocker Media’s website and Youtube channel consisting of the intro and the opening scene of an episode, brief clips on a compilation of Radical Sheep shows, snippets from YTV Jr. commercials, and videos on Karen Valleau’s website. Most of the tropes on the main page were able to be identified thanks to old, private VHS recordings.
    • The series apparently used to be on Google Play, but is now long gone.
  • The Other Darrin: Nathan and Hannah were recast for episodes with the daycare’s orange interior. Nathan’s new performer was Gord Robertson, well known for playing Zoboomafoo, and Hannah was performed by Wende Welch, who performed Maggie on Groundling Marsh.
  • Production Posse: The series shares a lot of writers and cast members with The Big Comfy Couch, being a Radical Sheep production and all. Cheryl Wagner is a co-creator, and the series brings back cast members Bob Stutt (Molly, Wuzzy Dust Bunny, Snicklefritz), and Fred Stinson (Major Bedhead, Andy Foley).
    • A lot of Fraggle Rock alumni worked on the show, such as co-creator Rob Mills (Junior Gorg)
    • It shares some of its puppeteers with Groundling Marsh, such as Stinson (Slinger, Hegdish), Wende Welch (Maggie), Nina Keogh (Crystal), and Gord Robertson (Galileo).
  • Technology Marches On: The series was made in the late 90s, and dates itself to the early 2000s at the latest. The lack of things that are now ubiquitous like cellphones and the internet can be jarring. The daycare has a computer that is never used, and its owners are contacted by a home phone. One episode has Zach and Hannah use cassette tapes for their respective activities instead of a more modern way to play audio tracks.
