• The Other Marty: Israeli singer Achinoam "Noa" Nini was originally cast as Esmeralda and recorded a few songs for the studio album. However, she worried that she didn't speak French well enough to perform the role on stage and chose to leave the project. She was replaced by Hélène Ségara, in one of her star-making performances.
• Star-Making Role: The musical put the names of Garou and Hélène Ségara on the map (in France at least).
