Main Story

  • Sakuya's reaction when Masumi suggests that someone else plays Romeo. Sakuya later explains that he has always moved from one set of relatives to another (which he feels like, he is not good enough for anybody), and right now, he finds Spring Troupe to be a welcoming family. The feeling of getting his role changed, to him, is a lot like that when he gets moved to another set of relatives.
  • Itaru crying after the Spring Troupe successfully performed in the closing night, despite Itaru's sprained ankle, and him admitting that he had never felt so passionate towards theater. If anything, the anime only made it even more emotional.
  • Despite getting bullied for his habit of crossdressing, Yuki still manages to recite Scheherazade's lines before the bullies leave and he breaks down in tears.
  • The portraits of the Autumn Troupe casts are pretty heartbreaking. It is all about the casts' biggest regret in life.
    • Banri was really bored because his life was pretty much on easy mode. Then he tried to take on Juza, a popular delinquent from another school, but he failed badly. Afterwards, Banri kept hounding Juza for a rematch, only to get turned down over and over again. Banri was frustrated. Eventually, he saw Juza showing interest in Mankai Company and joined the troupe just so that he could show Juza that he was better than him in many aspects.
    • Juza's Face of a Thug and lack of social skills cause him to be a social outcast at school and get labeled as a delinquent. This made him want to try to be another person and think that a play would be a good place for that, but he only got to be on a stagehand duty because of the stigma. He gave up all hope, but then he saw his timid cousin Muku in a play. Muku's performance inspired him and despite him being the worst in the Autumn Troupe (at the beginning), he kept trying.
    • The revelation that Sakyo had always been helping Mankai Company because he didn't want to lose his only connection to the Tachibana. In his childhood, Sakyo had always loved watching the Mankai Company performing rehearsals, but from afar because he believed that it was not a place for a kid. Then Izumi saw him and invited him into the training hall, allowing him to get a closer look at everything and even learn about acting and drama.
      • Sakyo eventually couldn't bring himself to visit the company that way because he worked as a yakuza and felt out of place. However, he still watched over the company, and when things were going south, he did whatever he could to keep the company alive.
    • After Nachi's death, Omi went on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge at the gang who attacked them and became a guy without any ambition. Then he met Nachi's parents, who revealed that if Nachi hadn't joined the wrong crowd, he'd have been an actor. This inspired Omi to become an actor.
    • Taichi's portrait takes the cake. He had always loved getting attention, but never really got any. Practiced with the Ultra Yo-Yos, but it soon fell out of trend. Got into a show as an extra, but that was all. He was also overshadowed by Tenma, who was about the same age as him. He got to join the God Troupe, but as an ensemble cast. Reni then offered to give him a major role in the next play, but he had to be The Mole in Mankai Company and sabotage them. Taichi, desperately wanting to be the center of attention, accepted the offer.
      • Having grown fond of Mankai Company, Taichi really hated what he did. Eventually, Omi (who had actually known that Taichi was The Mole in the troupe, but kept covering it) saw him talking to Reni in the phone, and Taichi just broke down.
      • What's worse? Reni threatened Taichi. Should he take back their deal, Reni would make sure that Taichi would never get to act again. Ever.
  • Azuma's past. He was at home by himself when his family went out, but nobody ever came back no matter how long he waited. It caused him to have Past Experience Nightmare. To distract himself from the loneliness, Azuma chose to be a professional cuddler and adopted a Safety in Indifference attitude towards others, knowing that at the end, he'd always be alone again.
  • Homare telling Izumi about his past, in which Homare often made his lover cry to the point that they left him and called him a broken cyborg. All while Homare didn't understand why.
Homare: I am completely and utterly devoid of empathy for others. That's why no one likes me. Nobody wants to form a true, heartfelt relationship with me.
  • The night before the closing, the unpleasant comments from God Troupe fans hurt Tsumugi deeply. Since he already had self-esteem issues to begin with, he ended up thinking if changing his acting style will be better. The result? Tsumugi's strength had always been in his subtle expressions, and he threw that out of the window by turning his performance on a total 180. The show quality dropped, leading Tasuku to snap at Tsumugi. Ouch.
    • Not to mention, Tsumugi himself ran off to be alone afterwards.
  • Tasuku admitted to Izumi about his inability to comfort Tsumugi after Tsumugi's failure. He had always turned everything into anger and lashed out at Tsumugi, further worsening everything.
    • Tasuku finally telling Tsumugi that he had always loved Tsumugi's subtle acting, something he regretted not telling Tsumugi when Tsumugi failed the God Troupe audition. Both tearjerking and heartwarming, because if Tasuku had said that years ago, Tsumugi wouldn't have given up on acting.
  • Adorkable Nice Guy Tsumugi's story in entirety. Some time in Part 4, Reni challenges the entire company into an act-off. The deal is, if Mankai Company wins, God Troupe will hand them their proceeds. But if God Troupe wins, Mankai Company has to disband on spot. It is a huge responsibility for Tsumugi, who has just become the leader of Winter Troupe, complete with self-esteem issues to boot, to take on. It doesn't help that Tasuku snaps at him whenever he shows his doubts as a leader, even when Tsumugi is already so pressured by the responsibility. On top of that, Tsumugi blames himself for his incompetence as a leader.
    • The tension between Tsumugi and Tasuku is always high, but whereas Tsumugi looks troubled around Tasuku, Tasuku doesn't hesitate to snap at Tsumugi. This only makes Tsumugi more hesitant and reluctant than ever. Thankfully, they get better.
    • When Tsumugi sees Reni, Izumi even remarks that Tsumugi is unnerved by Reni's presence. It is related to his past, in which Tsumugi failed the God Troupe audition.
    • Made worse by Reni demeaning him whenever he sees the chance.
    • Tasuku's [About to Bloom] backstage only worsens everything with the implications.
  • In Episode 5, there was Masumi's short arc. Masumi have to leave the troupe because his father want Masumi to come with him to another country. Masumi, afraid that his father will make a trouble for Mankai (because he have the power to do so), accept that and leaving secretly. The whole company come to the airport to prevent Masumi from leaving. The pitiful boy broke down and crying in front of them.
  • In Part 5, Chikage and Hisoka tearfully reminiscing about their late partner August. Chikage swears to uphold August's wish in protecting Hisoka from the Organization so that he can have a normal life, and to find out just who orchestrated the events that led to August's death and Chikage's fruitless revenge quest.
  • The end of Mankai's first performance run of Love of Left Field, where pretty much everyone in the Summer Troupe (Kumon and Muku especially) are crying Tears of Joy at a successful run, bearing in mind that Kumon had to power through his stress-induced fevers.
  • Sakyo came from a very poor family and ended up with a Friendless Background as a child. Then a card game became a hit at school. Sakyo, annoyed by how everyone viewed him, decided to use his very little allowance to buy a pack of cards, hoping that he could get the very rare dragon card everyone had been talking about so that he could brag about it and others would treat him better. He didn't get anything good from the pack, and to make things worse, it wasn't even enough for a game.
  • Azami's backstory. Azami's passion in make-up came from his mother, Sayuri, who had been ill for a long time. Sayuri would always use make-up to cover her illness so that her husband wouldn't worry too much about her. Once, Azami asked if he could try giving her a make-up, and she accepted. It had pleasant results, and from that on, Azami helped her with the make-up. Unfortunately, her illness never got any better, and she eventually passed away.
    • Azami wanted to pursue make-up, but due to Poor Communication Kills, his father viewed it as a reason to avoid being the heir of Ginsenkai. When Azami bought a make-up set, his father found it and destroyed it, greatly upsetting Azami and causing him to run away.
  • Azuma revisiting his old family home at the start of Part 8 with Tasuku. Tasuku happens to find a birthday gift left by Azuma's late brother in their old playroom, and Azuma breaks down in tears after reading the card.
    • Azuma's brother never got to give the birthday gift, as the accident happened a week before Azuma's birthday.

Backstage

  • Tsuzuru [To My Dearest Friend]: After getting Tsuzuru's toy robot from Boyd, Luke wondered about the world the robot came from. Then he asked S, who had been deactivated because their world banned technology and artificial intelligence, if that would be a happy place to live, and wished that someday their world will be like that, too. It really brings you back to the "Ray of Hope" Ending of A Clockwork Heart play.
    • What did the robot say when it ran out of power and shut down? "It is time for bed. Good...night." It's similar to what Luke told S when he took out S' key and deactivated him.
  • Tenma [The Great Sardine Search]: Tenma deeply cares for his Paw Pals cat, always feeding and playing with him whenever he has the spare time. There is once Tenma is so busy that he cannot take care of the cat, and the cat ends up with a skull and crossbones sign. Tenma seeks Itaru for help, but Itaru simply tells him that the cat is dead. Tenma's reaction is just heartbreaking...until Muku comes in and it's revealed that Itaru has been lying to Tenma.
  • Juza [The Stranger]: It's raining when Juza and Tsumugi are watching a sci-fi movie together. The movie is about how plants on Earth have withered because of acid rain. Caring Gardener Tsumugi is troubled and runs off to check his plants. Imagine what's in his head when the movie is playing.
  • Tsumugi [About to Bloom]: Tsumugi and Izumi went to watch a play. There happened to be a skit before it, and Tsumugi was reminded of his past. He performed the same skit for an audition. And he failed. And everything just went downhill from that. No wonder why he was in a bad mood throughout the play.
  • Tasuku [About to Bloom]: Izumi and Tasuku comes across a crying boy in their way home. Said boy fails the God Troupe audition, and Tasuku explains that the God Troupe says really awful stuff to those who fail their audition. They'll say something like "you have no talent," "you're wasting your time," and "I don't know what you were thinking, trying to be an actor with a face like that." Then the boy's friend comes to comfort the boy, which causes Tasuku to feel immense guilt and regret of not doing that in the past.
    • Even though Tasuku refuses to say much about it, it's likely that he's referring to Tsumugi. Meaning, poor Tsumugi is mocked by the God Troupe after failing the audition, just like the aforementioned boy.
      • This itself is tragic in so many ways. Tasuku likely knew the nasty stuff the troupe told Tsumugi, and he just stood there as his best friend was torn to shreds and probably tried his best to hold back his tears, not knowing what to do. If Tasuku tried to comfort him, it might come across as gloating. Tasuku chose not to do anything, leading to Tsumugi giving up on acting and their falling out.
  • Hisoka [Waiting for a Peaceful Sleep]: Hisoka gets the penguin pillow Pen Pen from Itaru and adores it. Then he tries to wash it by himself, only to almost ruin it. Thankfully Yuki is there to fix the pillow.
  • Hisoka [MANKAI Memory]: The flashback details on Hisoka's childhood and it is just soul crushing, and that still does not include all the cases of Harsher in Hindsight spawned by this backstage alone. Little Hisoka, a starving Street Urchin, roamed the streets. Then he came across a rosary and picked it up, thinking of selling it so that he could buy some food. He was just a little boy at that point.
    • He decided against that and returned the rosary, although he was afraid that he would be mistaken for stealing it. Then what did he tell the priest? "I didn't steal it or anything." The priest had not even spoken up.
    • After treating Hisoka to a meal, the priest told Hisoka about fateful encounters and he would someday met people who would be eager to celebrate Christmas and his birthday with him, which did happen in the future. He also told Hisoka to hold the rosary and pray, and that God would always be watching over him because he had done a good deed.
    • Hisoka's sprite is also painful to look at: a disheveled little boy in tattered clothes.
  • Azuma [About to Bloom]: Azuma is visibly upset when asked why he dislikes morning. He tries to brush it off by saying that it is the UV light, but Izumi actually sees through it. Azuma lost his family at a very young age and had been trying to distract himself from the loneliness by being a professional cuddler, but every morning, his clients will leave and make him feel lonely again.

Events

  • The Stranger event delves deeper into Omi's back story. Up until now, he has always been haunted by Nachi's death, and the fact that he has always considered acting as living someone else's dream.
    • Omi's past hurts his acting as Ward too, because it reminds him too much of his past as a delinquent.
  • My Master's Mesmerized by Mystery event focuses on Homare. Homare's grandma gave him a broken pocket watch because it was unneeded, right after saying that Homare was like the pocket watch. For a long time, Homare thought he was unneeded just like the broken watch. He gets better by the end of the event.
    • "Just as that woman called me a cyborg... I keep being likened to machines with no understanding of human emotion. Everyone always abandons me, just as Grandmother did this watch. I don't understand the feelings of others. And thus, I always end up hurting them. It's as though I was born broken."
    • Homare tells Tsumugi about his novel. It is about a man who can't understand others' emotions well and often hurt others by accident. One day, the man writes a poem for his lover. It ends up hurting her, and she leaves him. Later on, Tsumugi asks Tasuku if he has found any novel in the pile of Homare's books. Turns out that Homare only writes poems and never a novel. The story Homare told Tsumugi earlier was actually about him, who really had a hard time empathizing with others no matter how hard he tried.
      • The stage makes this scene much sadder, with Homare's voice and facial expression. For all the smiles, Homare looks and sounds on the verge of breaking down as he talks about the story, but manages to hold it in somehow.
    • In the stage version, we can see a shot of Homare's shocked face as soon as Azuma discovers a box containing the pocket watch, and things go downhill from that point on. Homare tries whatever he can to hide his grief, remaining cheery as he ushers everyone to carry the box away, but of course he is Obviously Not Fine. Once he is left alone, he looks at the pocket watch, sadly.
      • The flashback is incredibly heartbreaking. We see the silhouette of Homare's grandmother, and Homare tries to reach out to her...but she simply leaves. Then Homare decides that he is broken and unneeded just like the watch, with a sad smile.
  • A Clockwork Heart event focuses on the relationship between Tsuzuru and Mizuno. Tsuzuru and Mizuno were friends, but due to the difference in their social class, Mizuno's parents separated him from Tsuzuru, by moving Mizuno to another school. For a long time, Mizuno felt guilty of being unable to help Tsuzuru with another play for Tsuzuru's younger brother as promised, couldn't bring himself to see Tsuzuru face-to-face, and chose to watch over him from afar. That Tsuzuru still remembered the friendship also became an inspiration for Romeo and Julius and particularly A Clockwork Heart script.
  • The misunderstanding between Muku and Juza in Blazing Beachside Passion. Back in the past, both of them went to the beach for family gathering. Muku built a sandcastle, but then it rained heavily. Everyone took shelter, but Juza tried to save the sandcastle for Muku, only to end up destroying it. When the rain calmed down, Juza was mistaken for destroying the sandcastle. Muku pretended to not look sad or anything, but before Juza could apologize to him, Muku had run off.
  • Captain Sky's Pirates has Misumi feeling down from the start because he has no memories his grandfather. It only gets worse when the story eventually showcases Misumi's family situation. His parents avoid him and tell his little brother Madoka to avoid him too, because Misumi is weird. Only Misumi's grandfather never abandons him.
    • Misumi believing that Madoka never loves him, although as revealed later, Madoka does love Misumi.
  • Tales of Chivalry: Ginji the Wanderer has Autumn Troupe getting very worried after hearing about Sakyo's plan of buying an apartment, to the point that it impacts their practice. What's more, nobody can talk about it, hence the misunderstanding between Sakyo and the rest of the Autumn Troupe: everyone thinking that Sakyo plans to move out, all while Sakyo thinks that him being Drill Sergeant Nasty towards the rest of the troupe is causing the conflict. He even thought that the rest of the Autumn Troupe would be happier without him.
    • Sakyo's past. His mother raised him all on her own, and he had been getting into fights, which he felt extremely guilty of. Then he became a Yakuza and lied to his mother that he had found an honest job. At one point, he kept holding onto the package he was supposed to deliver, only to get left behind by the ones who gave him the task and beaten up.
  • Nocturnality has Azuma struggling to act as Reo, a solitary vampire. It's due to him having been living a lonely life.
    • Azuma's past, from which his Past Experience Nightmare came from. His family wanted to go on a trip, but on the day of the trip, Azuma happened to be sick. Azuma told them that he'd be fine by himself at home, and his entire family left...and never came back. It was later revealed that his family's car got knocked off the cliff, with his parents' bodies found but his brother's missing. Azuma was still in elementary when that happened.
      • Made even worse by the fact that Azuma felt guilty of not stopping his family from going on that trip.
    • The implication of Azuma wanting to cut his hair. He has grown it as a prayer, hoping that his brother will someday return to him, and now he wants to cut it off.
    • A small one on the event login screen on 6th day: It features Azuma's unbloomed [Limitless Thirst] card art, where Azuma gives a longing glance, with him saying, "It's almost over. How sad. I feel like Tasuku."
  • Die by the Sword has a Fridge Tearjerking moment when the Winter Troupe visited Tasuku's house. Fuyuki, Tasuku's brother, was an Amazingly Embarrassing Brother and Tasuku was very annoyed at him, but it was clear that Fuyuki loved his little brother very much. Azuma pointed it out to Tasuku and told him to cherish his family; this coming from Azuma, who lost his entire family at a very young age, just stings.
  • The Luminous Circus itself is quite the tearjerker, but a few small changes of the lines in CN localization make it sadder. In the epilogue, the localization makes it clear that Homare suddenly leaves the table to sober himself up. In that attempt, the drunk Homare wanders off alone and ends up at his grandparents' study, where he sees a vision of his past with his grandfather, which may well be a hallucination coming from his drunkenness. It is when everyone finds him he snaps out of it.
    • Even sadder when you realize that Homare gets even louder and more dramatic when he is drunk, but instead of letting it out in front of everyone including his grandmother, he goes to hide.
      • Made worse by the My Master Likes A Mystery banner rerun minichat.
    • In the vision, when the young Homare asks his grandfather Sakae about what memories he has with his grandmother Miyako in the painting, in the localization Sakae simply tells him, "When you grow up, when you finally find something valuable to you, I will tell you." Sakae never lives long enough to do so.
  • Hotel Compass has Winter Troupe performing a skit at the empty lot where Azuma's family house used to stand. In this skit, everyone acted as Azuma's family, as if the house were still there. Hisoka and Homare acted as the cats who liked to hang out near the house.
  • Homare revealing why he has been such a faithful co-lead to Tasuku in Dance with Butterfly is heartbreaking as it is heartwarming. Homare tried everything to understand Tasuku so that they could be in sync during the play, including doing muscle training to the point he hurt himself. During the rehearsal, when Tasuku flubbed, Homare tried so hard to match with Tasuku and ended up worsening their acting. But worst of all, Homare ended up destroying his own unique acting and was confused and frustrated at everything. Why did Homare choose to go through all this? Because Tasuku had always repaired and maintained his dearest pocket watch Christine, even after it had stopped moving. Homare believed the best way to repay Tasuku's kindness was by responding to his passion for acting, and that is, by supporting Tasuku in any way possible for the play.
    • After the rehearsal, Homare went off alone to practice dancing and ponder his individuality. Homare was the one who started the famous "people bound by destiny" vow for Winter Troupe, yet he had to be reminded of that here.
    • As revealed in Homare's [Promise of Blooming] backstage, Tasuku did not mind doing the repairs and maintenance at all. Yet Homare apologized to Tasuku for always asking for his help. Luminous Circus also had a moment in which Homare felt bad for always doing so.
    • Even sadder with the fact that Christine is Homare's Security Blanket as Homare admits in his [A Tent of Dreams and Light] backstage.

Anime

  • With the release of the anime, it all brings you back to the state Mankai was in at first. Shackled with debt, with a manager who has no idea how to run it with proper guidance, and ready to be demolished... which would probably have happened if Izumi didn't act on that letter.
  • The anime shows the shots of Izumi's past, where she acted but didn't do well. At the end, she was told that she had no talent for acting.
  • Sakyo pointing out the truth that theater is where people perform for money, not where people show the results of their hardwork, right after Sakuya's subpar, yet heartfelt performance.
  • Sakuya practicing very hard for the sword fight scene in Romeo and Julius, to the point that he gets blisters in his hands and falls over when he comes to the morning practice. Then Masumi talks about having someone replace Sakuya's Romeo role. Cue Sakuya breaking down.
  • The flashes of little Sakuya with his relatives as he tells Izumi about his family situation.
  • Masumi froze at the "I can't forsake my family" line during the street act. Knowing his family situation, well...
  • Masumi feeling down after slapping Izumi by accident.
  • Tenma's failure on the school arts festival. We get to see young Tenma freezing up on stage as everyone stares at him.
  • The dress rehearsal. Tenma's nervousness and freezing up are shown on-screen.
    • The article for the dress rehearsal shows how cruel the media can be.
  • Banri showing off his proficiency in Ultra Yo-Yo to Taichi. That Taichi lamented about how much time and efforts he spent to master it and ended up dropping his own yo-yo at the sheer shock were just a pain to watch.
  • Omi's portrait was even more painful when animated. The rival gang beat up both Omi and Nachi, leaving them for dead. Omi was battered and bloody but still conscious, all while Nachi was gone, with his body lying close to him.
  • The anime made the moment Tsumugi changing up his acting even more heartwrenching. When Tasuku yelled at him for the mess, he ran off. Now, he wasn't back at the dorm unlike the game; when Tasuku returned to the dorm, hoping to comfort Tsumugi, he returned to a dark, empty room. When Tasuku called Tsumugi, Tsumugi didn't even answer the call. It turned out that Tsumugi ran off to the bridge where he bade his goodbye to Tasuku after failing God Troupe audition.
    • Tasuku rushed to find Tsumugi with an umbrella, all while it was snowing. When he finally found Tsumugi, Tsumugi was standing on the bridge, partially covered in snow.
    • Tsumugi crying as he listened to what Tasuku had always wanted to say: Tasuku had always loved Tsumugi's subtle acting.

Plays

  • The Winter debut show Sympathy for the Angel. Its theme song Don't cry... just makes it all the more sadder.
    • The play itself is about Michael the angel falling in love with a human woman, and despite Raphael's warnings, Michael does whatever he can to keep the human safe and happy. Even if she has gotten a fiance later. This is to the point that Michael pulls off a Heroic Sacrifice just to get the woman's name off the registry.
      • The kicker? The OG lead, Michael, is Tsumugi himself.
    • The Main Story version is even more heartbreaking because it is fully voiced. During the showdown with God Troupe, the way Tsumugi speaks his last few lines sound like he is truly dying.
    • "Now I've lost not only my love, but my dearest friend."
    • The translation of Don't cry... lyrics. Also, towards the end of the song, you can hear Tasuku's voice cracking a bit at "Don't go" as Tsumugi's voice fading away at "Smile for my last moments"... The ending also sounds like fading heartbeats too.
  • The Spring 3rd play A Clockwork Heart. With Omoide no Nejimaki playing in the background, it's even more tearjerking and bittersweet.
    • Its theme song Omoide no Nejimaki in entirety. It doesn't help that the last lines play right when Luke took off S' key in the Theater version.
    • The story itself. Luke created S the homunculus to be his friend, but creating such a thing was banned in the society. However, Luke insisted on keeping S. Then when Luke was caught up in an incident in the town, S tried to save Luke and got his identity exposed, and the authorities wanted to capture S. S asked Luke to take out his key, so that the authorities would stop chasing Luke. Tearfully, Luke removed the key, and S went dormant. However, Luke always wore the key everywhere, as a reminder of his friendship with S even though they were apart.
      • The fact that S didn't understand human emotion at the start and caused a distance between him and Luke, but at the end, he did. The event story made it more heartbreaking by noting that S shed tears as Luke removed his key.
      • Luke's and S' crying voice as Luke took out the key.
      • Luke's upward gaze at the end. You can see that he was waiting for the time when he could awaken S again.
    • The badge for clearing all the practice missions and flair for this play: "Goodnight Until We Meet Again."
  • The Winter 3rd play Nocturnality. Kota found Reo unconscious at the dump and let him stay with him. Both of them were getting along very well, to the point that Kota said that Reo would make an ultimate wife. Then at one point, Ryohei gave Reo a farewell gift, only to stab him and reveal his identity as a vampire. With their existence known, Franz told Reo that they should leave. Despite Kota's pleas, including wanting to be a vampire if that's what it takes to be with Reo, Reo knocked Kota out and left after thanking him for everything. The play ends with Kota waking up and breaking down at Reo's disappearance.
  • The mixed play The Luminous Circus is a story of Sadistic Choice. The Luminous Circus Troupe was a dying circus troupe, but after George picked up a baby from the street, a miracle happened. The circus troupe was magically revived, the broken props were restored, and the performances were all successful. But this drew unwanted attention and resulted in the baby getting kidnapped. The Luminous Circus Troupe managed to rescue the baby, but George later quietly went off to give up the baby to the monastery, believing that the baby deserved a better life than this. Unfortunately, with the baby gone, the magic that restored the circus troupe disappeared. The performance quality dropped, so much that the performers, Nick and Will, had enough and quitted, leaving George alone.
    • Hearing it voiced in the event story only makes it all the more sadder. You can pretty much hear the audience yelling at George for the poor performance.

Others

  • The minichat in My Master Likes A Mystery banner rerun has Hisoka ask why Homare never shows his pocket watch Christine to the audience during the free talk session. Homare says that he tries to think as Christine, that it will be very sad to show that she is a broken, nonfunctional pocket watch. He also believes that Christine will not want to have her broken state exposed either. Which, Hisoka soon points out, is just like Homare, who tends to go off alone to brood when things go south.
  • The lines that can be heard when one of them is dismissed. Especially Kazunari's line is jarring because it is so out-of-tone with the others.
Tenma: I'll put an end to this wretched display. I'm giving up on theater.
Muku: Of course there's no way some roadside pebble could become something like a prince. I really was an idiot.
    • This all makes you realize what would happen if they genuinely had to leave. Several of them have nothing to go back to (Yuki's classmates continuously bully him, Masumi's parents are absent, Misumi would not only lose his friends but also the roof above his head, Tasuku has apparently been blacklisted from most acting companies in the town due to leaving the God Troupe), or have to go back to being alone again (Masumi, Citron, Banri and Juza), or feel like having their dreams shattered (Omi being unable to be the great actor he wished to be when Nachi died, Tsumugi failing in acting once again).
  • The OST Un Jour, a melancholy tune that often plays at various tearjerking moments in the main story such as Sakyo's and Taichi's portraits as well as the moment Tasuku finally tells Tsumugi that he has always loved Tsumugi's acting, something he regrets not telling when Tsumugi fails the God Troupe audition.
  • Imagine if Banri found out that Muku is Juza's cousin before they joined the Autumn Troupe...
