The Wildcat scout car is illustrated by a Warthog from Halo, and this doubles as a shoutout to Red vs. Blue (Griff insistst that the warthog looks more like a Puma-a type of wildcat).
- Fred often tells VENI to "Do the thing" when giving her an order.
- Kovacks refers to the Westerosi myth of the world being the pupil of a Titans eye as "the Eye of Terror."
- King Robert's Maester takes directions from a book titled The Hitchhiker's Guide to the North.
- When Fred tries to "blend in with the locals" by wearing "traditional Westerosi clothing", Daniel snidely remarks: "doth Teller know you weareth his drapes?"
- The Company™ deploys three A.I. "siblings" named VENI, VIDI, and VICI.
- VENI routinely cracks jokes with the crew, stating "that was a joke", and "occasional displays of humor facilitate [her] interactions with organics".
- After Bran's fall, Fred tells Lord Stark that "We can rebuild him; we have the technogy."
- When Lady Catelyn calls Eddard to tell him that she suspects Tyrion Lannister threw Bran out a window (in actual fact, it was Jamie Lannister), the Stark's holographic communicator glitches and repeats "Help me Lord Pyter, you're my only hope!" over and over.
- On that note, holography is noted to be bluish and translucent, and looks like "something out of an old sci-fi movie", while never outright mentioning Star Wars.
- The Falcon shuttle's airspeed is compared to an unladen peregrine falcon.
- Patchface sings the chorus of Enter Sandman when Fred comes to visit Lord Stannis.
- A Lord of Change tells Bran that "In space, no-one can hear you scream" during a Dream Sequence.
- Arya Stark calls rock and roll "Music with Rocks In."
- VENI is a "Nexus-8 Synthetic" who also boasts of her capabilities in a speech starting "I have seen things that you people would not believe..." and that she's seen C-Beams glitter in the darkness near Tanhaüser Gate. One must wonder if this Future Earth has Tyrells of their own...
- When a White Walker tries to kill Fred, his memories begin to fade away, and he realizes that they "will all be lost in time, like tears in rain."
- Word of God is that the character of Fred was inspired by various characters played by Chris Pratt, from being an idiot working in an office setting, to wearing a red leather jacket and listening to 70's and 80's music, to riding a motorcycle.
- When employing a "shocktaser pistol" to stop Jamie Lannister from killing Ned Stark, Fred yells "POWAH! UNLIMITED POWAH!!!". Lampshaded by Fred a second later when he admits "I always wanted to make that reference!"
- The Company™ as a whole, in their modus operandi and their attitude towards the natives, seems to be a futuristic version of the British East India Company. At one point, Fred even remarks "it's nothing personal, it's just good business".
- Ser Crakehal is upset that Lord Lannister hired bounty hunters, stating "We don't need their scum!"
- The principle unit of measuring "magic" used by The Company™ is the "Thaum" (described, jokingly, as the amount of magic needed to "conjure a small white dove or three medium-sized billiard balls"), and the unit of measuring "background magic" is the "Pratchett". One chapter includes a memorial to the late writer.
- Jaime Lannister claims that he will "strike down with cold vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my family!"
- One of The Company™'s employees is a Scottish engineer named Niall Donnelly.
- A S.A.W.-toting Action Girl is asked if she's ever been mistaken for a man, to which she replies, "No. Have you?" Said S.A.W. is a Captain Ersatz of the M65 Smartgun as well.
- At one point, Fred and Niall make a major digression from the plot in order to discuss the movie Return of the Jedi and the validity of non-film Star Wars canon.
- During the Battle of Outpost B, a sniper muses "They Might Be Giants after all" upon seeing abnormally big wights.
- VENI says "You are terminated!" before burning her opponent to death.
- Danerys lists all the recipies for horse.
- When asked what is good in life, Khal Drogo replies: "to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!!!"
- Fred, on a motorbike, shouts "Oh what a day! WHAT A LOVELY DAY!".

- The whole war sequence in the third act of Book 1 seems chock full of shout-outs to various Real Life historical wars, battles, armies, and generals, ranging from Julius Caesar to Sengoku-Period Japan to Napoleon to the Battle Of Gettysburg.
- At the climax at the Battle Of Red Fork, Ned seems to speak and behave like another Sean Bean character...
- Some of the scenes of Tyrion leading a charge and Robb defending the left flank seem inspired by Gettysburg.
- One of the Lannister knights proclaims that something is a "SHAMEFUL DISPLAY!".
- Two to Star Wars; a Stark general mutters "ouch time" when he sees the Goldrifles charge their lines, and Robb tells the gunner manning the gatling gun to "Intensify dorward firepower; I don't want anything getting through."
- Two updates set on future Earth feature a rich Indian CEO named Zaeed Masrani, and a corrupt American politician named Senator Frank Spacey.
- The Company™ quickly notices that Ned Stark and Boromir look suspiciously similar. Then they land on the Warhammer World too and meet yet another Sean Bean lookalike, a crusading knight named "Brother Ulryk".
- At one point, two hapless orcs in Sauron's army have a conversation that starts with "do you ever wonder why we're here?".
- During the battle against the Beastmen, one of the privates is called Sanders. "What's the matter, Private Sanders? Chicken?"
- While escaping a Jabberslynthe on a vehicle, one of the Marines sees the monster chasing them in the rearview mirror with below it the warning: "objects in mirror may be closer than they appear".
- Gandalf tells Saruman: "if you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine".
- A band of crusading warriors on EE-L0 is led by a certain Brother Indryk, who constantly shouts about "HERESEH" and "SIGMAR'S FUREH!" He has a personal guard known as the Siegmarines, or as he calls them, the Siegmehreens.
- In general, chapters set on the Warhammer world will be filled with shout-outs to the other Warhammer.
- When given the chance to use a turret, one of the Russian mercenaries laughs maniacally "I AM HEAVY WEAPON GUY! AND THIS IS MY WEAPON!"
- Ellen Kovacs hacks a bouncer-robot and plays out a "You don't need to see our identification" scene to sneak into a rave.
- Emperor Karl Franz gets his mount to fly by saying "Deathclaw, yip yip!"
- Robb Stark is told if he ever visits Earth, he should come to Scotland since he might feel at home there. Robb's actor, Richard Madden is from Scotland.
- Actor Allusion: When they meet Boromir and Brother Ulryk, the Company people notes both men have an uncanny resemblance to Eddard Stark. Of course, all three are played by Sean Bean. In another Sean Bean in joke, Ned gets a book about the Napoleonic Wars which features a photo of an actor who also looks like him.
