Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures is a 1992 live-action television series created by Clifton Campbell based on the Bill & Ted movies. It aired on Fox and consisted of seven episodes and a pilot. Bill and Ted are now played by Evan Richards and Christopher Kennedy, and Rufus is now played by Rick Overton; they also voiced the characters in the second season of the Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures cartoon series.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures contains examples of;
- Alternate Continuity: Seems to be an alternate version of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure with the boys again having to use their time machine to pass a history exam so Ted doesn't get sent to military school.
- And Starring: Rick Overton as Rufus.
- Casual Time Travel: Rufus uses his time travelling phonebooth to teleport to work in the mornings.
- Does Not Like Spam: Rufus' least favourite food is chicken kiev.
- Refugee from TV Land: The pilot ends with a woman coming out of a comic book to live on Earth permanently.
- Splash of Color: In the pilot, a woman comes out of a comic book but stays black and white.
- Stock Footage: The footage of the phone booth traveling through time is reused from the film.
- Swiss-Cheese Security: The boys protect their time machine by sticking an "Out Of Order" sign in it so people will think it's a broken phonebooth.
- Trapped in TV Land: In the pilot, the phonebooth takes the boys inside a noir comic book.
