Tropes and Works

    Trope Spotlight

Obscure Tropes

This section highlights older tropes that need a boost.
  • With the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy, France, most will remember one of three ways Allied troops landed in France on June 6th, 1944. Most would think of the American Paratroopers landing near St. Mere Eglise and the British glider troops assaulting the Benouville Bridge. However, the most iconic scenes of D-Day would be Allied troops Storming the Beaches, each with varying levels of German resistance. While most would think of the American landings at Omaha Beach, where German resistance was stiff and risked dooming the landing forces, others, such as Utah and Sword Beaches, were relative cakewalks by comparison, with the American and British Forces facing overall less resistance and establishing successful bridgeheads.
  • As we step into the summer, for many of us, that means stepping into beach weather. It's almost enough to make you want to grab your metal detectors and get to work. Beachcombing is a common sight in media, where someone searches the sand for buried treasure and cool trinkets. Unfortunately, as far as the wiki is concerned, only 41 "treasures" have been discovered since 2010. Why not break out your own metal detector and comb the beach for some more examples of this trope?

New Tropes

This section brings attention to recently-launched tropes that could use a little help to really get rolling.
  • Lifeguards are a common sight in beaches and poolsides. They keep an eye out for patrons in distress, so they must also be physically fit to do the job. In fiction, they also tend to have very attractive physiques. Enter the Lifeguard Fanservice, a trope that covers the allure of these brave men and women. It started making waves on May 11, so there's time to dive for more examples.

    Work Spotlight

New Work Page Spotlight

This section covers newer work pages that could use a little help.

Older/Obscure Work Spotlight

This section is intended to highlight works that may no longer be in the zeitgeist — but that doesn't mean they're any less tropable.
  • Work

Works That Need a Page

This section takes a page from the List of Shows That Need Summary. It is intended to spotlight works that people have been talking about enough to link around the site, but don't have a page yet. If the work page link turns blue after this, then we know we've done our job!
  • Work

Non-English Work Spotlight

The wiki may be in English, but that doesn't mean non-English media are any less important! This section focuses on works that may have a language barrier to deal with — but are worth it if you do.
  • Work

Creator Page Spotlight

Works would be nothing without the people who make them. This section highlights authors, artists, actors, musicians, and everyone else responsible for trope creation and proliferation.
  • Even if you don't know his name, you have probably seen Keith Haring's distinctive art style on everything from fashion collaborations to Sesame Street segments. His boldly-lined barking dogs and stick figures are one of the most iconic examples of the pop art movement. He is also one of the most well-known gay artists, with a lot of his later work also being activist pieces to shine the light on issues related to the LGBT community. Despite his fame, his page here doesn't have many tropes relating to his works, and the ones it has are fairly short.

Projects and Discussions

    Forumwatch
Hey guys! Welcome back to Forumwatch! In this section, we'll be telling you about what's going on in the forums — interesting discussions that may be going on in Wiki Talk, some fun forum games, or lively debates going on in On-Topic Conversations, you name it!
  • Thread

    Trope/Article Changelog
This section covers renames, removals, redefinitions, hard-splits, merges, and wick cleaning. We'll try to keep you alerted to any major changes to the site, including perpetual projects and Wiki Talk decisions that you may have missed, but if you want to be a part of the process that affects so much of our wiki, then head over to the Trope Repair Shop on the left-hand side of the forum.

    Pages Needing Help
This section highlights articles indexed on the Pages Needing Wiki Magic policy page and sub-pages. Such articles are, at best, under-performing and below wiki standards. At worst, these pages are in violation of the wiki's rules against stubs. If you're an editor, try checking out some of these under-performing trope and work articles to see what improvements you can make to the page.
  • June's birthday is Aria Alistar, an actress known for her roles in Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, ER, and Scrubs. Unfortunately, for someone who aspired to be a TV reporter, we're reporting a barebones description and a list of roles that needs to be fleshed out.
