Recap / Yu Gi Oh SEVENS Ep 7 The Transfer Student Is An Elementary Schooler

Go To

Goha Corp is struggling to combat the impact that Rush Duels are having on Goha City. Mimi Atachi, a member of the "Top of Hexagon", infiltrates Goha Seventh Elementary in the guise of a transfer student under Goha's orders to acquire Yuga's Rush Duel notebook and obtain a means of uninstalling them.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Easily Forgiven: Being the Nice Guy that he is, Yuga doesn't seem at all bothered by Mimi lying to him and even offers her his notebook, which is exactly what she wanted.
  • I Gave My Word: Yuga keeps his promise of giving his Rush Duel notebook to Mimi after defeating her.
  • Older Than They Look: Mimi is 37 years old and has a son of her own, but is able to pass for an elementary schooler flawlessly.
  • Mythology Gag: Mimi's monsters are all Younger and Hipper versions of classic monsters (save for Dian Keto, which is a Spell Card). Lampshaded by Gakuto, who is surprised to see such legendary monsters.
  • Omniscient Council of Vagueness: The Hexagon.
  • Properly Paranoid: The gang is rather suspicious of Mimi for her sudden appearance and attempts to ingratiate herself, and held a stakeout to catch Mimi trying to steal the Rush Duel Notes.
  • Tempting Fate: Dub only and lampshaded. After resummoning Dian Keto the Boogie Master, Mimi states that there's no way Yuga can beat her, only for Romin to point out that's what people say when they're about to lose. Sure enough, Yuga defeats her shortly afterwards.
  • Two Decades Behind: Mimi's deck is disco-themed, and naturally this means her monsters dress in outfits that are really outdated. Romin and Rook take note of this, and it's the first sign they're given of Mimi's true age.
