Recap / Yu Gi Oh Arc V Ep 82 Warriors Of The Air

Go To

The second round of the Friendship Cup continues between Crow and Kurosaki. Crow summons "Blackwing - Gofu the Hazy Shadow" and uses its effect to perform a Phantom Synchro, reviving "Raikiri the Rain Shower" from his Graveyard. At this time, the two notice Crow's friends on a bridge over the track, and Kurosaki calls for the duel to be stopped, but Crow ignores him. Crow destroys Kurosaki's Blaze Falcon, but Kurosaki responds with "Rank-Up-Magic Raptor's Force" to revive it and Rank Up to the Level 6 "Raidraptor - Revolution Falcon." Kurosaki then point out what Crow has missed; Tanner was blown off the bridge by their monsters when they flew by, and is hanging off the back of Raikiri. Tanner slips but Kurosaki catches him and brings him to safety, telling him he used to have kids that cheered for him, too. Crow realizes why Kurosaki had wanted to stop the duel and the two bond, realizing they're not as different as they had thought.

Kurosaki begins his turn and uses "Rank-Up-Magic Skip Force" to Rank Up to "Raidraptor - Satellite Cannon Falcon," then returns Skip Force to his hand to Rank Up ability, to the Rank 10 "Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon." Ultimate Falcon destroys Raikiri, taking Crow to 800 Life Points, and Crow revives "Oroshi the Squall" before his turn ends. On his next turn, Crow draws and summons "Blakcwing - Bora the Spear" and tunes it with Oroshi to Synchro Summon "Sohaya the Early Summer Rain" With Soyaha's effect, Crow revives "Sayo the Hidden Rain" from his Graveyard and Synchro Summons Raikiri again, using Sohaya's other effect to Special Summon another copy of itself. With his two monsters out, Crow Synchro Summons the Level 12 "Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Swell" and attacks to win the duel.

Back in the arena, Kurosaki is waiting by a helicopter to take him to the underground labor facility. He tells Crow he'll return and keep fighting, and the Crow should as well. Crow agrees, and the two accept each other as comrades.

During the duel, Yuya and Roget speak. Yuya refuses to support Roget, insisting they can trust Sora, but Roget reminds him Dennis has been sent back to Academia, and regardless of Sora's intentions, Dennis will surely tell them about Yuzu and Serena. When the duel ends, Roget, having seen Yuzu with Crow's friends, tells Security to apprehend her, and Yuya tries to stop him. Security officers apprehend Yuya and throw him into a cell.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: A small moment towards the end. Crow's final attack at the end of the duel damaged a billboard with Jack Atlas on it and Jack is seen looking at the damaged billboard at the end of the duel before cracking a small smile.
  • Bridal Carry: Kurosaki when rescuing Tanner.
  • Continuity Nod: Once again, Crow realizes that another character is a good person because they protect/rescue children.
    • Kurosaki had shown concern for Reira when they were going to the Synchro dimension, although being himself he expressed this through anger and rudeness.
  • Friend to All Children: Kurosaki, this actually allows him to bond with Crow.
  • Graceful Loser: Kurosaki took his lost well, even smiling.
  • Heroic Resolve: Yuya tells Roget that he'll never let him have Yuzu.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Shockingly Kurosaki, he reveals one of the reason he started fighting was to protect children and wanted to stop the duel to save Tanner who was hanging onto Crow's monster.
  • Meaningful Background Event: We see Tanner climbing the rail a bit higher to get a better view at the duelists. Right after they pass by and the wind passes, he's already missing which the other kids don't notice, as can be clearly seen in an image on Roget's monitor. Right after that image, Kurosaki starts yelling at Crow to stop.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Crow and Kurosaki are very similar, with Crow's kids remarking on it. They are both people fighting against a foe much larger and stronger than they are, Tops for Crow and Academia for Kurosaki, and both use DARK-attributed Winged-Beasts who are jerks with hearts of gold who care about children.
  • Poor Communication Kills: For some reason, when he sees that Tanner is hanging onto Crow's monster and is about to fall, Kurosaki simply shouts at Crow to stop dueling (leading Crow to believe he's just telling him to forfeit, and thus continue the duel) instead of actually explaining the situation.
  • Worthy Opponent: Crow and Kurosaki become this by the end of their duel.
