Recap / Xiaolin Showdown Finding Omi

Go To

With Omi now completely under Chase Young's control, the rest of the Monks must find a way to defeat Chase and free their friend. However, a creature from the Ying-Yang World is now loose in the real world, and Chase himself is not willing to let the Dragons do as they please.

Tropes

  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: A rare case of the heroes doing this to the villains. When Raimundo, Kimiko and Clay challenge Chase to a Showdown for Omi's freedom, Chase Young asks what they intend to wager, with Raimundo responding that what they're offering is the one and only thing Chase would even be willing to play for and risk losing Omi; their own eternal loyalty to Chase. The smirk Chase makes in response indicates he agrees with Raimundo.
  • Benevolent Boss: Rather than bark orders and demand obedience, Chase calmly talks to Omi and scratches him behind the ear.
  • Bring Me My Brown Pants: Implied example. Good Jack in the Ying-Yang World finds the Monks' chi like he's shopping at a market. When the Chi Monster catches up to him, it puts a pack of toilet paper into Jack's cart, as if to say "you'll need this too."
  • Confusion Fu: Invoked by Omi during the Xiaolin Showdown. Since Chase knows every move in the book, Omi makes up a new move on the spot, throwing the warrior off-balance;
    Omi: Sparrow Eating Hot Dog!
    Chase: (Confused) Sparrow Eating Hot Dog?
  • Handicapped Badass: Master Fung can still fight, even when reduced to a wheel mchair.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Non-fatal example. Good Jack chooses to go to the Yin-Yang World to trap the escaped Chi Creature and retrieve Raimundo, Clay, Kimiko and Master Fung's chi, even though he knows that doing so with only the Ying Yo-Yo will mean he will go back to being evil.
  • Lampshade Hanging: When Fung explains what he meant by "only one will rise," Dojo expresses certainty the old man makes this stuff up as he goes along.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Jack's Evil Dream Team abandoned him to work for Chase in the last episode. Now that Chase has what he wants, he feels they are no longer needed and fires them…out of a catapult.
  • Pet the Dog: As Omi expresses regret for his recent actions, Chase explains how he actually saved good by honoring his promise. Omi thanks him for this and suggests the good in him is stronger than he's willing to admit.
  • Secret Test of Character: Chase reveals to Omi that Omi's promise of never using the secret to destroy evil was this. When they used the Fountain of Hui and the Eagle Scope a few episodes ago, Omi thought he saw the secret to destroying evil, but he didn't see Chase holding the Reversing Mirror. That means, Omi actually saw the secret to destroying good, and if he had not honored his promise, good would have been destroyed instead of evil.
  • Spanner in the Works: Good Jack is the one who ultimately undoes the damage done by Chase.
  • We Will Meet Again: Now that Omi has had a taste of evil, Chase expresses certainty that he'll be more tempted the next time they cross paths.
  • World-Healing Wave: Once the monks win the Xiaolin Showdown and Omi becomes human again, everything that was destroyed is instantly restored and the split-in half Earth is made whole again.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After becoming a Reality Warper, Chase feels that Tubbimura, Vlad, Katnappe, and Cyclops are no longer of any use to him, and launches them out of a catapult.
