Episode 6 of the second series of The Office (UK). David is desperate not to be made redundant, but Neil and Jennifer have already chosen a replacement.

- Cutting the Electronic Leash: Tim takes off his microphone before pulling Dawn aside to speak with her, and we see their Silent Conversation through a window. After returning to his seat, he speaks into the microphone and reveals that she said no.
- Downer Ending: David loses his job and Dawn rejects Tim for a second time before leaving for America with Lee.
- Funny Background Event: While Tim is explaining to Neil why Gareth should be promoted to manager, Gareth can be heard playing with the Dirty Bertie toy in the background.
- Informed Attribute: Trudy claims to be attracted to shy men, yet a couple of episodes back she had car park sex with Finch, who is about as far from shy as it's possible to be.
- It's All About Me: David's narcissistic interview with the reporter who is writing an article about him.
- Hope Spot: Right at the end it seems there is a chance Neil and Jennifer will reconsider David's redundancy.
- Humiliation Conga: David's downward spiral continues when, having already been made redundant, he now learns that he won't be asked to do any more motivational speeches.
- Offscreen Breakup: Tim invites Rachel into an office for a chat. In the next scene, a tearful Rachel is being comforted by Emma.
