Review of: A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
This review contains examples of:
- Disappeared Dad: "One gone dad later..."
- Facepalm: Critic does this when Charles says "Shut up, Meg." and laments that Disney of all people made it funnier than Fox.
- He Really Can Act : Critic acknowledges that he found the performances of all the actors to be genuinely great, but just in the wrong genre - the key exceptions being Storm Reid and Chris Pine, who hit their mark perfectly in his opinion.
- Irony: The Critic notes the irony of using a quotenote to make a point against Mrs. Who's "quote someone else" schtick, but he figures she's too stupid to care.
- Running Gag:
- Every time Calvin makes a "punch-able look of whimsy", we cut to Critic making an exaggerated version with a heavy breath.
- The Critic referencing Charles's apparent obsession with "cakes of all sorts".
- Sequel Hook: The Critic starts getting hyped up for Christmas yet again, only to stop mid-shout in realization he has to look at even more commercials before then.
- Speaks in Shout-Outs: The Critic really hates Mrs. Who's whole "speaks in other people's quotes" quirk. She's practically The Scrappy of the movie for him because of this.Mrs. Who: "Dang!" — Tucker, American.
Critic: "Eat shit and die!" — everybody, everywhere. - Subverted Catchphrase: "I'm the Nostalgia Critic, and if you'll excuse me, there's a certain season around the corner I need to get excited for. That's right! CHRISTMA— Oh, wait, this first." (leaves with his "I Donut Donuts" shirt)
- Take That!: "The ability to speak doesn't make you intelligent... the only good quote from The Phantom Menace."
"No." "Cakes of all sorts." "No!"
