Recap / The Loud House S 6 E 7 Dine And Bash Sofa So Good

Go To

Dine And Bash: The kids are left to run Lynn's Table while their dad and his employees are busy. But when they seemingly mess up on aggressive famous chef Guy Grazer's show "Kitchen Ambush", they race to erase the footage and save Lynn's Table's reputation.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Pun: When gathering spices, Luan asks if anyone has the thyme. Leni, being Leni, responds by saying it's 7:30.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Kotaro phones Lynn Sr., they're initially shown in a split-screen. Then it turns out Kotaro is also at Lynn's Table, outside the window, no less.
  • Call-Back:
    • Among the recipes in Lynn Sr.'s cookbook is his ca-Lynn-mari from "Dream a Lily Dream".
    • Guy Grazer, who first appeared in "Present Tense", makes a comeback in this episode.
  • Colony Drop: In an attempt to prevent Lynn's Table's episode of Kitchen Ambush from airing, Lisa tries to destroy the satellites but fails by dropping the Norway and Iceland satellites in Royal Woods. During the ending, Lily takes Lisa's tablet and drops the American satellite on Vanzilla.
  • Continuity Nod: Luan is the one who takes over most of the cooking duties while Lynn Sr. is absent, since "Feast and Family" established she has more than enough culinary talent and competency to do so.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Guy Grazer is pretty aggressive, given that he tosses a menu that knocks down his camera man (requiring the boom operator to stand in), and assaults Todd with his survey papers just for trying to distract him by asking him to take a survey. Surprisingly, despite all of this, his review of Lynn's Table was positive, praising the Loud children for their ability to run the restaurant and plans to return when Lynn Sr. is actually available.
  • LARP: Grant is busy larping for Orcs, Horks, Wizards and Pork.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Guy sighs when he sees countless Lynn-themed puns in the Lynn's Table menu.
  • Literal-Minded: When Lynn Sr. tells the kids to use his cookbook when in doubt, Leni's instinct is to use it as a mixing spoon.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Guy Grazer is a clear parody to famous chef Gordon Ramsay.
  • This Explains So Much: Guy when the Loud kids explain they're running Lynn's Table in their dad's stead.

Sofa So Good: The siblings are on their best behavior when Rita and Lynn Sr. announce a prize for a disaster-free week as they leave. When they accidentally trash the living room while fighting, they race to clean it up, but make the mistake of leaving the furniture outside...

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: A twofer — The siblings have to fess up to wrecking the living room the instant the parents leave after their attempt to cover it up ends up literally falling down. Getting the couch back also proves this in the end as the prize turns out to be a brand new one to replace it.
  • Continuity Nod: Flip's side businesses are seen again with another one called "Dom's Driving and Dumpster Diving".
  • Gasshole: Lynn farts in response to Lisa saying she will do so to rebut what Lisa said. Strangely, Luan and Lana are disgusted by this; one would expect Luan to find this funny as the comedian she is, and Lana usually likes gross things.
  • Running Gag: Lynn throwing her siblings' shoes as a distraction. When Lincoln refuses to let her use his shoe, she's forced to use hers.
