Elizabeth and Philip come home to discover Paige mopping the kitchen floor obsessively. She tells them she looked at Pastor Tim's diary, and that he talked about how damaged she was because of what Elizabeth and Paige did to her. Elizabeth and Philip both try to downplay it (and also tell Paige she shouldn't put herself at risk like that), but they tell Claudia to look into finding a job for Pastor Tim somewhere else. When Elizabeth and Philip broach the subject with Paige, she's resistant at first, but then says it's a good idea, and shows her the pictures she's taken of the diary, in which Pastor Tim says Elizabeth and Philip have been psychologically abusing Paige. He also calls Elizabeth and Philip monsters.
Elizabeth and Philip also give Claudia the tape they got which revealed the Soviets used the virus in Afghanistan, which Claudia denies knowing about. She tells them the wheat sample they got will help their scientists for years to come, but that they also need to continue with Strobert and Deirdre. Elizabeth and Philip also continue with Tuan, who says things are getting worse for Pascha, and with Evgheniya - Tatiana "accidentally" runs into Evgheniya on the street (after getting a coded message from Philip), and tells her if she and her family decide to come back to the Soviet Union, there will be no repercussions.
Elsewhere, Stan and Aderholt continue to meet with Sofia, Oleg tells Rusian about his troubles with Directorate K officers questioning him, and Philip decides to have Father Andrei marry Elizabeth and Philip for real.
This episode contains examples of:
- As the Good Book Says...: Pastor Tim quotes Psalm 55:22 ("He will never let the righteous be shaken") to Paige at one point.
- Blatant Lies: Claudia denies knowledge of the Soviets using the virus Elizabeth and Philip got from William, when it's clear she does.
- The Bully: Discussed - Tuan tells Elizabeth he got some bullies at school to put dog poop in Pascha's locker to make him feel even more miserable.
- Call-Back: Elizabeth had wondered, when "Clark" married Martha, what it would be like if she and Philip got married for real.
- Evgheniya admits to Elizabeth she's having an affair with one of the CIA agents she's teaching English to, which Elizabeth already knows.
- Tuan apologizes again for running out on Elizabeth and Philip, and Elizabeth says she didn't report him, but tells Tuan not to do it again.
- Paige tells Philip she thinks Henry should be allowed to go to the boarding school.
- Dead Drop: Philip leaves his message for Tatiana in a fake rock.
- Dramatic Irony: In addition to what's mentioned above about Evgheniya telling Elizabeth about her affair, there's also Pastor Tim telling Paige she'll do well in life after Paige has already read the part in his diary where he claims otherwise.
- Flashback: Philip goes jogging and remembers an EST session about how it's human nature to respond to stimuli.
- Foreshadowing: Elizabeth and Philip aren't wearing any disguises when Father Andrei marries them, which becomes important later.
- Sofia tells Stan and Aderholt she's been seeing a hockey player named Gennadi, a former hockey player who's working as a courier for the Soviet Union, and the FBI try to figure out a way to access the diplomatic pouch through which the Soviets are smuggling contraband. Both things become important later.
- History Repeats: Lampshaded - when Philip continues to be suspicious of Renee, and Elizabeth wonders what the big deal is, he tells her he doesn't want to see Stan end up like Martha.
- Metaphorically True: When Paige asks her parents if they stopped the Americans from contaminating the wheat, Elizabeth says they helped the Soviet Union, which is true (in that the wheat sample they sent will help), but they don't mention the Americans were never trying to poison the Soviet wheat.
- Shout-Out: Bauhaus' "Slice of Life" plays while Elizabeth and Philip are developing Paige's photos.
- Terminology Title: The title, of course, refers to a room where people develop photographs, as we see Elizabeth and Philip do near the end of the episode.
