The family is at the school to watch the night sky. Rentarou notices someone inside the building, and becomes concerned that someone might be trying to take creep shots of Momoha in her tent. Not wanting the girls to get involved he slips away.
The girls keep watching the sky when a scream erupts from the school. They realize it was Rentarou, but receive no response when they call out or try to reach him by phone. After speculating on the situation, the girls agree to split up into groups and search the school.
Hakari and Karane argue about the former using a latter as a human shield, but when a youkai appears chanting "Flat wall", Karane becomes enraged, thinking that it's referring to her. Ahko and Suu encounter another youkai, but neither of them knows what it is, deciding to take a selfie with it. A one-eyed youkai appears to Suu's delight.
Shizuka is clinging to Nano despite Nano's reassurance that nothing unscientific is going on. When a rokurokubi appears before them, Nano is unimpressed and attempts to keep going, only agreeing to go a different direction when Shizuka pleads with her. Meanwhile, Yamame refuses to let Momoha return to her tent for some liquid courage. When a soul flame shows up, Yamame panics, forcing Momoha to carry her on her back. Two more youkai with flames appear, freaking Yamame out even more.
Iku and Mei run into a faceless ghost and a kappa, but have no issues dealing with them. Chiyo comforts the frightened Mai. They hear a sound from a nearby classroom and find a youkai hoarding garbage. Infuriated, Chiyo begins cleaning up, and when Mai notices that the youkai is distressed by this, she attempts to help, only to trip and fall.
There is still no sign of Rentarou as the chapter ends.

- A-Cup Angst: Karane becomes convinced that the wall youkai is calling her flat and gets angry.
- Agent Scully: Nano is skeptical that anything supernatural is going on, but does her best to help Shizuka feel less scared.
- Foreshadowing: Nano says that any monsters they meet must be people in costume. The next chapter reveals that she's correct.
