Recap / Ted S 1 E 6 Loud Night

Go To

Blaire's friend Sarah stays over for Christmas, and a Christmas miracle happens for Matty.

  • A God Am I: Ted, through a massive amount of Insane Troll Logic, believes himself to be Jesus since they both suddenly came to life one night. He drops this the instant Sarah tells him what happened to Jesus.
  • A Rare Sentence:
Sarah: And why should I care what a fucking toy dumptruck thinks about my sexuality?
  • Boomerang Bigot: Dennis is homophobic but later reveals he’s gay.
  • But Now I Must Go: At the end of the episode Dennis leaves to pursue life as a gay truck.
  • Call-Back: Susan refers Dennis' being brought to life as a "Christmas miracle", just like in the first movie when shenote  gives the the same name to Ted's existence.
  • Child Eater/Eats Babies: Discussed by John and Ted during the sermon about the lyrics to "Silent Night"
John: Wait, who describes an infant as mild?
Ted: Yeah, I'm more hung up about tender.
John: yeah, someone's eatin' this baby.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While Matty freely makes homophobic remarks towards his niece and her girlfriend alongside Dennis, he actually becomes fed up with Dennis after the latter makes Blaire cry.
  • Evil Counterpart: Dennis to Ted since he’s racist and an asshole like Matty.
  • Foreshadowing: At one point in the Christmas Episode, Ted and John mention that “it’s always the homophobes that turn out to be gay”. Later in the episode, Dennis, who turns out to be so homophobic he makes Matty look like a bastion of tolerance, reveals he’s gay.
  • Insult Friendly Fire: When Dennis proves to be even worse than Matty with his bigotry, Blaire informs him that although she's used to taking this crap from Matty, she won't take it from "some random piece of shit that just came to life"... then tells Ted that she means no offense to him. Ted brushes it off.
  • Jerkass: Dennis. Even more-so than Matty himself, actually making Blair cry with his homophobic remarks. It's also entirely his fault that Blaire and Sarah almost leave the house on Christmas Eve with his bigotry.
