  • An Aesop:
    • Being good parents doesn’t mean letting your kids do whatever they want. Enforcing discipline is what makes good parenting.
    • Respect the Golden Rule.
    • It definitely isn’t a smart move to win over someone’s affection by stealing lines from movies, since anyone can see it and call the other party out.
  • Can't Take Criticism: When Johnny finishes his "Reason You Suck" Speech on the Marvins’ poor parenting, the mother has the gall the act offended that a mere hotel employee told her off while refusing to see any truth nor fault in what caused all the trouble from her kid’s lack of control, and leaves with the rest of her family in a huff.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: At first, Emma refuses to steal a guest’s clothing for an upcoming movie premiere, until she notices Ty asking out another girl to see that same movie. Emma promptly calls Lo and decides to steal that dress to win him over.
  • Pushover Parents: The Marvins’ parents are this, bar none. They never punish their kids for all their damages and harassment to the staff, even when asked to reign in their sons’ troublemaking antics, the dad dismisses it as “boys will be boys”. Even when Johnny calls them out for being terrible parents, they see nothing wrong with what they done.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Johnny telling off the Marvin parents for refusing to reign in their hell spawns, I.e their kids.
Johnny: I don't wanna criticize your parenting skills but I will. THEY STINK! And your “little angels” here have been running wild, terrorizing the staff, and bothering all the guests FOR TWO WEEKS now! And someone has to say it! YOUR KIDS ARE AWFUL LITTLE MONSTERS, AND YOU NEED TO BE BETTER PARENTS!
  • Shipper on Deck: Lo and Emma tease Fin over her denial of being in love with Fin.
  • Shout-Out: Reef stole lines from an old surfing movie called "Break Point'' to impress a girl he's teaching.
  • There Are No Police: The shit the Marvin’s brats get away with would have landed them in juvie, and their parents having to deal with CPS. We’re talking property damage, physical and mental harassment towards the hotel staff or guests amongst other things, yet the family never so much as get forcibly kicked out and banned.
  • Would Hurt a Child: After finally having enough of The Marvin kids causing more than enough destruction, they threaten Johnny that their parents will certainly sue him should he harm one hair on their head. Johnny promptly declares that it’s a risk he’s willing to take.
