Jadeite's plan to sneak an energy-draining sound frequency into new music recordings is jeopardized when a pianist is inadvertently given the tape containing the frequency instead of his demo for his upcoming record. He runs into Usagi, who offers to help him after Luna suspects that he's being targeted by a Youma.
Tropes for this episode include:
- Bat People: The Monster of the Week Kyurene. Her real form is a hideous bat woman, and she's capable of turning into a swarm of bats.
- Fan Edit: To compensate for being missing from the original dub, a DIC-styled fandub of the episode was created. (Unofficially dubbed "Cupid's Melody").
- Something Completely Different: This episode feels more like a miniature horror movie due to the Dark Kingdom's energy stealing plot being derailed when Kyurene accidentally loses the cassette needed for the plan. We're instead treated to Kyurene hunting Amade Yusuke to get the tape back, with Yusuke having no idea why he's being stalked and Usagi stumbling into his path by accident. Once she gets involved, Usagi is strangely more proactive than she's been in the past several episodes. Likewise, there's the fact this is the first time outsiders have been caught in the crossfire with the Dark Kingdom in a way that didn't involve their energy being stolen first.
- Sonic Stunner: One of Kyurene's attack methods, which Sailor Moon uses against her by countering with a microphone and sound system to amplify the attack back
- Stealth Pun: The Victim of the Week's name is Yusuke Amade which, when his surname is used first (Amade Yusuke), sounds like Amadeus (as in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart).
