"Sucks to be you, Pops!"
Written and storyboarded by Owen Dennis and Toby Jones (The Hole and Unfinished Business) and by Minty Lewis and Sarah Oleksyk (Scary Movie Night) .

In this fourth instalment of the Halloween specials, the park crew finish giving out candy and decide what to do for the rest of the night. When the subject of Muscle Man's mom comes up, the crew requests to go see her. Muscle Man agrees but only on the condition the group tell scary stories. Pops, Benson and Rigby all give it a shot during the trip.

  • The Hole: Pops' story involves the park crew doing a raffle to decide who get thrown into a hole with the belief that it'll keep them alive. Pop winds up the unlucky winner.

  • Unfinished Business: Benson's story sees Mordecai and Rigby suddenly die and haunting the household. The only way to get rid of their spirits is to fire them. A task easier said than done.

  • Scary Movie Night: Rigby's story involves Mordecai, CJ, Eileen and him watching scary movies. Rigby pulls out supposedly haunted VHS with three different stories fused into one. It seems lame at first...until the movie sucks the group into it.

The episode has the following tropes:

  • And Then I Said: Played for laughs in this exchange between Muscle Man and Pops.
Muscle Man: So I said, "That's not your back scratcher, that's my toothbrush!"
Pops: It's true, you did say that to me!
Muscle Man: Yeah, we both remember.
  • Bait-and-Switch: It sounds like the werewolf in "Scary Movie Night" is eating his victim, but when he turns around it's revealed that he's actually stealing from the guy's wallet.
  • Animesque: The monster in the Japan section of the horror movie is drawn this way.
  • Big "NO!": Rigby's reaction at the end of his story when he realizes the ball lightning fused Mordecai, Eileen, CJ, and his butts together.
  • Bones Do Not Belong There: The pit in Pops’ story coughs up the skeleton of Hi-Five Ghost.
  • Bowdlerization: The "Scary Movie Night" segment was cut out in the UK.
  • Dead All Along: Benson in his story. Turns out Mordecai and Rigby weren't the ghosts, he was.
  • Dumb Blonde: One of the movie protagonists of the werewolf section of the VHS. She seems to initially see through the werewolf's trick of package delivery. When the werewolf asks for a signature, she quickly falls for it though.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: During the scene where Mordecai, Rigby, CJ, and Eileen make it to the credits of the movie, the names they see in the credits are actually the names of the people who worked on the show.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In "The Hole" when it comes down to Rigby and Pops. Rigby, fearing he'll be picked, starts to agree with Pops that they don't have to sacrifce people into the hole. When Pops' name is called, however, he tells him it sucks to be him.
  • It's Been Done: Muscle Man points out that Pop's story is a rehash of classic literature. And Mordecai tells Benson his Dead All Along twist is nothing new.
  • Lightning Can Do Anything: The cursed tape in Rigby's story was created when three different horror movies were struck by ball lightning.
  • Losing a Shoe in the Struggle: CJ is forced to abandon her boots when a lightning ball nearly shocks her.
  • Losing Your Head: The protagonist of the second horror VHS story, Wyatt, suffers this. He stays alive long enough however, to ask the rest of the group how his new haircut looks.
  • Mistaken for an Imposter: The monster that scares the gang at Muscle Mom's house was supposed to be Muscle Bro in disguise, but then he walks in and Muscle Man realizes it's a real monster outside the window. Turns out it's Muscle Mom in disguise.
  • Multiple-Choice Past: According to Muscle Man, his mom has eaten acorns, swam across the ocean with one arm tied behind her back, and is a registered notary public.
  • Nightmare Face: Mordecai and Rigby as ghosts make grotesque faces at Benson to scare him and keep him from firing them.
  • Ominous Fog: In Pops' story, the group is too scared to leave the park because they don't know what is beyond the fog that surrounds it.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Twist Ending of Benson’s story is a reference to The Sixth Sense.
    • The movie that Rigby, Eileen, CJ, and Mordecai are watching in the beginning of "Scary Movie Night" is a reference to No Country for Old Men.
    • The movies in "Scary Movie Night" seem to reference well-known horror movies/horror movie genres such as J-Horror and Sweeney Todd.
  • Staircase Tumble: In "Unfinished Business," Benson ends up dying because Mordecai scares him with a monster mask and he falls down the stairs.
  • Swallowed Whole: The Japanese girl when she tries to befriend the monster in the Japanese section of the horror VHS.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The movie protagonists Mordecai, CJ, Eileen and Rigby run into.
  • Trapped in TV Land: The plot of Rigby's story.
  • Twist Ending: All the stories try to attempt them, but the crew is unimpressed.
  • Unfinished Business: Mordecai and Rigby come back from the dead as ghosts, because Benson didn't fire them and they never finished their job of haunting the park house for Halloween.
  • Unseen No More: After being the punchline of Muscle Man's "My Mom!" jokes for 6 seasons, Muscle Mom makes her first on-screen appearance.
  • Uranus Is Showing: In Pops' story, the group is dressed as the planets of the solar system but Rigby isn’t happy with his costume:
Rigby: I hate dressing like this.
Mordecai: That's only because you chose Uranus!
  • Whole-Plot Reference: Pops' story is based on The Lottery, with a bit of The Mist thrown in. Lampshaded by Muscle Man accusing Pops of rehashing classic literature.
