Written and storyboarded by Owen Dennis and Toby Jones.

When Mordecai and Rigby damage a painting of Benson, they're forced to repair it, but Mordecai (who actually went to art school) can't come up with a painting that captures the essence of his boss.

Tropes:

  • Applied Phlebotinum: Double Subversion. When Rigby falls and drops dipping sauce over the projector, it seems for a second the machine will do something, but it doesn't (Rigby even lampshades it). However, Rigby drops more dipping sauce a second later, and this time, the slides come to life.
  • Bob Ross Rib: Benny Harris is a very blatant one.
  • Body Horror: Benson's picture's slides once they come to life are an example of this, due to Rigby's terrible picture taking skills.
  • Call-Back/Continuity Nod:
    • Mordecai's art school past that was brought up in "Fool Me Twice" is explored a little here.
    • Benson's occupation as a drummer and passion for stick hockey get mention. He's also briefly heard talking about Audrey.
  • Inexplicably Awesome:
    • Rigby spilling his buttery pretzel on the projector (and then adding more sauce onto it) somehow causes the photography slides to come to life.
    • Benny Harris comes out of the VCR containing a recording of his show to give the duo some sage advice. Mordecai, and by extension the show, can't determine if this is his ghost, a hologram, or some astral projection.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: Mordecai does this to the Benson slides. With paint!
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: As it usually goes for Mordecai and Rigby. This time, they're sent to pick up a portrait of Benson, and before they deliver it to Pops, Rigby accidentally drops his greasy pretzel on the painting.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Benny Harris is a cartoon version of Bob Ross.
  • Pet the Dog: Benson keeps the painting Mordecai made and hangs it in his office (though shouldn't have made Mordecai and Rigby hang it).
  • Pipe Pain: Mordecai takes a pipe to beat the sentient slides back.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: The Benson slides deliver these to Mordecai over his skills in art.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stylistic Suck: Rigby's attempt to recreate Benson's portrait.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: The portrait Mordecai paints looks good and everyone approves of it, but an abstract piece isn't fitting to put up in a professional Hall of Fame, so it's rejected in favor of another commissioned piece.
  • Take Our Word for It: We don't get to see the portrait Mordecai sketches of the girl in art school, but it causes her to cry and run away. If it's anything like his initial attempt at Benson, we have a good enough idea.
  • True Art Is Incomprehensible: In-Universe. The people from the gallery initially don't seem to get Mordecai's painting, but fortunately for him, Benson does.
  • Writer's Block: Well, more of a painter's block.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Benny Harris teaches how to paint this way, fittingly as a Bob Ross Rib. He motivates Mordecai into fighting the slides despite his self-doubts.
