"I always wink when there's love in the air."
Gordon

Bewitched is the sixth episode of Reboot.

To Nora's dismay, Reed moves into the same hotel as Bree. She tries to reconnect with him by playing a game they used to play — guessing the lives of colorful-looking strangers — and he eventually relents, despite his insistence that he is in a committed relationship.

Hannah learns from the HR liaison, Mallory, that people are allowed to ask out their coworkers only once. While filming a flying scene with Clay, Zack attempts to ask out Elaine. Gordon and the rest of the writer's room try to push Hannah and Mallory together and invite her for a writing session. As part of his recovery, Clay needs to start making amends and attempts to apologize to Jerry, their longtime director, but Jerry is unimpressed with the insincere apology and leaves him hanging (literally).

Reed and Bree make dinner plans, but Bree cancels at the last minute after she overhears Reed and Nora on the phone. Clay manages a genuine apology for Jerry. Hannah scores a date with Mallory. Elaine turns Zack down, but meets him at the cinema anyway.

Tropes:

  • Double Standard: Elaine turns down Zack's offer to go out because as a new, female junior executive, it's a bad look for her to date an actor on her first show, even though a male executive likely wouldn't have the same problem.
  • Dreams of Flying: Invoked. The crew shoots a flying Dream Sequence involving floating rigs and greenscreen that, according to the director, represents Jake wanting to escape his work stress.
Clay: All I'm hearing is that my nuts are gonna get wrenched.
  • Plot Parallel: "Bewitched" is united by studio romances. Costars/exes Reed and Bree get closer, Gordon tries to set up Hannah with Mallory from HR, and Zack tries to ask out Elaine.
  • Shipper on Deck: After finding out that Hannah might be attracted to a woman in HR she's been talking to, Gordon tries to push them together and bands all the writers together to help, which deeply annoys her. When Hannah finally gets to courage to ask the coworker out on a date, all the writers are eagerly watching it happen and cheer her on when it goes successfully.
  • Unflattering ID Photo: Hannah tells Zack that she's stuck with a driver's license photo that looks like John C. Reilly.
