Just the Right Distance From the Sun

Sean explains to the others that Earth is a Goldilocks planet because it is never too hot and never too cold. The other planets don't have the right properties to sustain life, but the Earth is "just right."
  • Art Shift: Goldilocks is shown in a 2D art style, filtered as if it was an old movie.
  • Claustrophobia: Sean protests against going to space by saying that he's uncomfortable in tight spaces.
  • Evil Twin: Face 9000 says that Venus is like Earth's evil twin, since they're similar in size, but Venus' atmosphere is filled with carbon dioxide and cannot support life.
  • Kissing the Ground: Sean does this towards the end of the episode.
  • Loud Gulp: Sean gulps loudly when Celery decides to go to the farthest end of the Solar System.
  • Malaproper: Carrot isn't sure if he's making croquettes or playing croquet.
  • Shout-Out: There are constant references to the fairytale Goldilocks and the Three Bears, due to the episode being about how Earth is a "Goldilocks" planet, which means it's just right for life.
  • Super-Hearing: Celery already knows that the kids want to see if the other planets can sustain life, and explains that Bortronians have excellent hearing.
  • Purple Prose: Sydney inadvertently spouts deep-sounding prose when visiting Mars.
Sydney: A little white dot in a gray Martian sky. It's all rusty red, but it gives me the blues. (one second later) That's good! I should write it down!

Solar Power Rover

Jet, Sean, and Sydney visit a Mars rover at the Deep Space Array.
  • Cool Shades: This episode reveals that Face 9000 is solar-powered, and he wears sunglasses to store energy, or as he calls it, catch rays.
  • Cute Machines: Beep is absolutely adorable.
  • E = MC Hammer: Sean wants to be scientific about what's wrong with the rover, and write down his observations. He ends up writing a bunch of mathematical nonsense on a whiteboard.
Sydney: Sean, what are all those numbers?
Sean: I don't know yet, but I'm sure they're important.
  • Face Palm:
    • When the kids go to the DSA, Jet yells that he's from Bortron 7. Sydney reminds him that he's undercover, then he yells "NEVER MIND!" Cue Sydney facepalming.
    • Sunspot facepalms when Jet doesn't understand that the rover needs the sun for energy.
  • Gender Reveal: Sean's "pet" rover, "Shep" was referred to with he/him pronouns. After Jet suddenly become fluent in rover-speak, he talks to "Shep" and reveals that he is actually a she, and her name is Beep.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Mindy can't go to the DSA with the others, so her teddy bear, Stuffy Bear, keeps her company.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Sean somehow can't open the door to the rover's room. Sydney offers to open it, and Sean tells her that there's no way anyone can open the door. Then Sydney successfully opens it.
Sean: I was just about to pull it.
  • Lightbulb Joke: Beep tells Jet a lightbulb joke. Apparently, it takes 27 rovers to change a lightbulb.
  • Loophole Abuse: At the end of the episode, Jet makes some solar-powered lanterns, and puts them in the backyard. Celery then comes and tells him it's time to go to bed, since it's getting dark. But because of the lanterns, it will be bright all night.
  • Note to Self: After seeing Jet communicate with Beep, Sean makes a note to himself that he needs to learn to speak Beep.
  • Robot Buddy: Beep becomes a great friend to the kids, and to Sunspot.
  • Suddenly Fluent in Gibberish: Jet suddenly becomes fluent in rover-speak.
  • Sudden Name Change: Beep the rover was originally named Shep until Jet found out that she was actually named Beep.
