• Artistic License – Physics: Lucy, leaning out a highrise apartment building's window, makes a physically impossible catch of a woman falling from above (the woman's momentum would have been too much to stop), and the cast lampshades it for the rest of the episode. She struggles with the praise she receives because she feels she is getting credit for Moral Luck rather than actual merit. At the end of the episode it turns out the woman she saved is the new trauma surgeon who saves the life of the stopsign stealer who got hit by the car, so the cast credits Lucy with saving the lives of everyone the trauma surgeon saved.
• Drives Like Crazy: A muscle car and monster truck overtake a slow bicyclist.
• Hypocrite: The cyclist has a "Share the Road" sign on the back of her bike. She is also deliberately blocking vehicles by riding in the middle of the road and acts outraged when they pass her.
• Karmic Overkill: The running theme of the episode:
  • Parking in a handicap spot is wrong, but doesn't warrant being trapped inside a donation bin for a day.
  • The bicyclist was intentionally blocking traffic, refused to allow faster moving vehicles to go around her, and berated them for going over the double yellow lines to get around her. She got impaled by a stop sign.
  • The kids who were stealing stop signs were being stupid and reckless, but Athena was horrified when one of them was hit by a car which hit him because the driver rolled through the intersection because the kids had removed its stop sign. Though this is somewhat downplayed, considering what they did to the cyclist (albeit unintentionally).
• Oh, Crap!: Patrick realizes his car was towed in the hours between his fall and rescue.
• Title Drop: Chimney does this in the cold open to answer the rescued person's question. Same with Bobby and Eddie.
