Recap / Kid Cosmic S 3 E 1 Kid Cosmic And The Best Day Ever

Go To

Following their battle against Erodius, Kid and the Local Heroes, as well as their families, are recruited by the Planet Protection Group. Now designated as "Global Heroes", they are given a new base, new outfits, and new gear to help them fight new villains and troublemakers who are wielding their own Cosmic Stones of Power.

Tropes:

  • Ascended Fanboy: Kid is extremely excited to be one of Earth's greatest heroes.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The second threat the heroes face is Big Boss, a villain with the giant stone.
  • Batman Gambit: Kid already suspects Big Boss being too powerful, even with a full team. He and Flo have them fight him and gets Chuck to absorb any pain inflicted to them. Chuck then sends all that combined pain to Big Boss.
  • The Bus Came Back: The Biker in Black returns after the end of Season 1.
  • Call-Back: Kid uses the Human Net trick from "Kid Cosmic and the Precognitive Cat". Unlike that episode, the team manages to pull it off!
  • Cool Car: The Local Heroes ride the Kid Cosmobile, a sleek red and black car that has a flight mode and inexplicably sounds like Stan Lee.note
  • Cranial Eruption: Happens to Big Boss after he gets hit on the head with the big globe statue.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When Carl accidentally sneaks up on the gang while invisible, Jo chastises him for freaking people out when he's invisible. Then she realizes that the invisible threat probably has control of an invisibility stone.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: Kid and Papa G seemingly miss launching a statue at Big Boss's face, but Jo uses her portals to teleport the statue on top of his head.
  • Eyebrow Waggle: Fry does this when before forming an arm perimeter.
  • Funny Background Event: When the Global Heroes finish performing damage control, Papa G's clones can be seen picking up trash in the background.
  • Invisible Monsters: The first threat the Global Heroes face is a dog who swallowed an invisibility stone.
  • Portmanteau:
Jo: Wait, that's it! It must be an invisible villain!
    Kid: An invisi-villain!
  • Lampshade Hanging: After the whole cast escapes unscathed in an extremely dangerous crash, Papa G yells "How are we not dead?!"
  • Mama Bear/Papa Bear: Rosa's parents tend to her after Big Boss roughly pushed her away. They are then the first to fight him.
  • Security Cling: The whole cast is seen holding on to each other for dear life after the Kid Cosmobile is knocked down.
  • See the Invisible: The Goo Stone is used to coat the invisible dog in a layer of goo, making it visible to the audience.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Kid Cosmobile's voice sounds like Stan Lee's, and even delivers his iconic catchphrase Excelsior.
    • The Kid Cosmobile itself is a reference to KITT from Knight Rider.
    • There are two references to Superman:
      • A statue of a globe with the logo "Periodic Planet" is launched at Big Boss, referencing Superman's workplace the Daily Planet.
      • Big Boss bears a strong resemblance to Lex Luthor, being a bald man clad in green and purple armor.
  • Tempting Fate:
Kid & Jo: That worked perfectly!
Papa G: Strange. We never get this far without some sort of—
[The whole cast is lifted off their feet and crashes on the ground.]
Papa G: Ah. There it is.
  • Together We Are X: The episode ends with Kid presenting the Global Heroes one by one, with him at the end. At the end, they all reunite to Title Drop this trope.
    Kid: Together we are...
Global Heroes (Kid included): The Global Heroes!
  • Toilet Humour: It's implied Kid telekinetically removed the invisibility stone from the dog's butt.
  • Transformation Sequence: One is present when our cast dons their superhero costumes.
