The first volume of the series, containing Hayate's attempted-kidnapping-turned-rescue, followed by scene-setting of Nagi's mansion. At this point, there are only 6 significant characters introduced: Nagi, Hayate, Maria, Tama, Klaus, and Nursing Robot Eight. Chapters included are:

Tropes

  • Cliffhanger: The volume ends with the cliff that Nagi and Hayate are on falling apart.
  • Dragged into Drag: Nagi and Maria make Hayate dress in Sailor Fuku, and later a girly cat suit, for their amusement.
  • Literal Metaphor: At the end of the volume, the misunderstanding between Nagi and Hayate is compared to a secret flower garden on a cliff. Turns out the flower garden actually was on a cliff.
