- Butterfly Effect: Ed mentions Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is playing at a theater and is treated as a brand-new release in 1983 (he seems surprised to learn Spock dies). While it's possible this could be a theatrical rerelease (common at the time), it may also be that in this world, the film was released a year later.
- Hiding the Handicap: Molly is clearly having issues with her sight, unable to read the rules for using guns. She covers by saying the team can just read the report themselves.
- Training Montage: One of Gordo whipping himself back into shape in preparation for his return to the moon, intercut with a Time-Passes Montage focused on Tracy's increasing dissatisfaction with being on the moon, all set to "The Weight" by The Band.
