Elena's scepter is still on the fritz, and she's worried that she may not be able to protect the kingdom from Victor and Carla. She and Skylar take the scepter to Quita Moz, who sends the scepter to the other sunbirds. Since Elena thinks she needs a magical weapon to protect the kingdom, Quita Moz gives her a crystal tamborita. Meanwhile, jaquins Cruz and Vestia want to earn forgiveness for their past misdeeds, so they swipe one of Quita Moz's jars and let loose a little creature to catch, but they get more than they bargained for—the creature they let loose is an Anchimon (fire imp), which starts fires wherever he jumps. Elena tries to use the tamborita to stop him but only makes the situation worse.
