• Black Dude Dies First: James is the first contestant to be caught by The Night Butcher. This is actually justified, because The Night Butcher turns out to be Karol in disguise, and she has a grudge against him for the role he had in her elimination.
• The Bus Came Back: Karol was brought back for this episode's challenge, and because she won, she gets back into the game as a reward.
• Final Girl: Lake is the last camper standing at the end of the challenge, but in the end she is also unable to take down The Night Butcher.
• Gay Guy Dies First: As mentioned above, James is the first "victim" of The Night Butcher, and Aiden, that is also gay, is the second "victim". As it happened with James, this is justified because the assassin turned out to be Karol, that still holds a grudge against the two of them.
• Internal Reveal: Rosa Maria reveals to Riya and Lake that she is the one that has the immunity totem.
• Lampshade Hanging: Nina can't help but notice how this challenge resembles a lot many horror movies, with every camper ignoring the seriousness of the situation before it's too late.
• The Reveal: It is revealed in this episode that Rosa Maria is the one that has the immunity totem. Doubles as an Internal Reveal because the audience discovers this when Rosa reveals this information to Riya and Lake.
• Shout-Out:
  • This entire episode is a shout-out to Total Drama episode "Hook, Line, and Screamer", where the campers have to evade an assassin that turns out to be Chef Hatchet in disguise.
  • Ally's "death scene" is one to what is considered to be Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho Signature Scene, as she is caught by The Night Butcher in a similar way Marion Crane was ambushed while in the shower.
