Recap / Dinotrux S 04 E 02 Snowblazer

Go To

Having been lost somewhere north of the Crater, the Trux learn to endure snow and frigid temperatures as they try to get home, meeting an eccentric Plowasaur named Snowblazer along the way.

Tropes:

  • Beyond the Impossible: With a pit ahead of them and a avalanche behind them, the only chance for survival is to build a ramp jump over the pit. While Dozer has some serious concerns about the logistics of building while speeding down a slope, they get it done anyway.
    Ty: Let's Trux it up!
    Dozer: WHILE WE'RE MOVING?!
    Ty: Oh yeah!
  • Companion Cube: Suffering from extreme solitude, Snowblazer has not only named all the Acrtic Scraptors like pets, she also has a pet rock she calls Herb.
  • Continuity Nod: Needing to find South, Revvit uses one of his bits as a makeshift compass, explaining that it is still magnetically charged from Magnet Mountain.
  • Deus Exit Machina: The Pteracopters start frosting up in the cold, so Ty tells them to just leave before they become trapped.
  • Fish out of Water: Of everyone, Skya has the most trouble adapting to the cold; her treads lock up easier, her eyes frost up because she's taller, and her hook sticks to things when she doesn't want it to.
  • Hair-Trigger Avalanche: The quickest way out is through Avalanche Canyon, which is said to be impossible to get through without triggering an avalanche. The Trux use skis to move smoothly and efficiently, but of course an Acrtic Scraptor attack ends up triggering an avalanche anyway.
  • Like a Duck Takes to Water: Of everyone, Ton-Ton adapts to the cold the easiest, and almost immediately starts developing low friction stunts.
  • Musical Spoiler: The construction of the snow skids isn't set to the usual building theme. Naturally a much more impressive build happens later in the episode.
  • Tongue on the Flagpole: Skya tries to hook a rock like she normally does, but her hook, which doubles as her tongue, freezes to the rock and she can't get it off.
