Recap / Code Prime - R1: Rebellion, 20 "Cheering Mao"

Go To

C.C. explains to Lelouch, Kallen, Rai, and the Autobots her history with Mao, and how his inability to control his Geass drove him insane. Meanwhile, Mao allies with the Decepticons in an effort to obtain C.C., in exchange for information.

  • Adaptational Job Change: Ratchet's vehicle mode (being an ambulance) plays the role of the getaway vehicle this time.
  • Heel Realization: While walking around Tokyo Settlement with Suzaku, Euphemia confides to him that she's no longer sure if she's on the right side after learning about Airachnid, especially since Starscream advocated destroying Area 11.
  • Hidden Depths: During the above conversation, Euphie reveals that she secretly resents being a princess, as it makes her complicit in her family's crimes despite her opposition to many of her father and sister's choices.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Lelouch reveals that Rai also has Geass.
    • After being rescued by Lelouch and Ratchet, along with reassurance from Optimus that C.C. will no longer be alone, C.C. reveals to them (along with Fixit) that V.V. was in fact Victor zi Britannia, Charles' older twin brother and Lelouch's uncle, much to their shock.
  • Neutral No Longer: Having learnt the truth about Lelouch, the Black Knights, Britannia, and the Cybertronians, Shirley decides she can no longer sit on the sidelines and makes her heartfelt decision to a surprised Kallen.
Shirley: Kallen, I want to join the Black Knights.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Having already discovered Lelouch's identity as Zero, Megatron pretends to be ignorant to test Mao and see what the human was capable of.
  • That's Gotta Hurt: When Kallen tells Shirley how Bumblebee lost his voice to Megatron, Shirley was horrified, clutching her throat in response.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: After he allowed C.C. to go to Mao, Optimus motivates Lelouch to strategize a means to save her, as he was confident that Lelouch wouldn't simply allow her to give herself up. This proves that he was willing to place his trust on the ex-Britannian prince, and Lelouch inwardly considered Optimus a true father-figure, one more fitting than his biological father.
