- Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: It's left to the viewer's imagination whether Calvin and Hobbes actually flew a magic carpet into the city, or simply pretended they did. Of course, if it was real, you'd think they would have thought to fly up to Dad's window and knock on it, so imagination is the more likely answer here.
- Sugar Causes Hyperactivity: When Calvin's dad gets home, Calvin tells him how he rode a magic carpet and saw him in his office but couldn't get his attention. Calvin's dad suspects that his son is eating too much sugar.
