Recap / Bluey Stumpfest

Go To

While Dad and his mates pull out some tree stumps in the garden, Bluey, Bingo and Muffin turn one stump into a nail salon. When it comes time to pull out the girls' stump, Dad must strike a deal.

Tropes:

  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Bluey, Bingo and Muffin link arms and declare "SAVE OUR STUMP" when the men are about to destroy the one they've been playing on. This has the feel of activists trying to save a piece of land and halt deforestation or the development division.
    • Also Chili and Trixie's piling on, while drinking implies they were possibly buzzed when they joined in.
  • Heel Realization: Initially, Bluey is against the idea of letting the men take out the stump she and her sister and cousin were having fun on. But after a heart-to-heart with Chilli, she comes to see that she and the girls were disrupting the men's own brand of fun.
  • Never My Fault: Downplayed: When Chilli (jokingly) tells Bandit to leave the stump alone, he fires back "You're the one who wanted it gone!"
Chilli: (to Trixie) Oh, yeah, that's true, I want to put in a fish pond.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Bandit and the guys coming to destroy the girls' stump doesn't necessarily come out of left-field like Bluey believes: Bandit did tell her before-hand not to get too attached to the stump because they would eventually remove it. The problem is, Bluey was so preoccupied with getting her "salon" ready that she only gave the impression she acknowledged what her father was saying. If Bandit had at least taken Bluey aside to be more engaged in his warning, there's a chance the conflict of the story could've been avoided.

Chilli's Fishpond

Way back in the episode Stumpfest, Chilli mentions wanting to build a fishpond in the backyard. Then in the Season 3 episode Tradies, we get to see the pond being built and finished.

How well does it match the trope?
