Basic Trope: Characters pointing out certain features in the way they're drawn.

  • Straight: In the show "Alice and Bob", everyone is drawn with Four-Fingered Hands. A Running Gag is the characters lampshading this trope in various ways.
  • Exaggerated: There are various stylistic liberties in the show, and the show constantly lampshades all of them.
  • Downplayed: A character once remarks "Have you ever wondered why we have four fingers on each hand?", but this isn't brought up afterwards.
  • Justified: The characters really do have these stylistic liberties (rather than simply being drawn that way for the ease of the animators), and something involving finding out that people in the real world have five fingered hands came up. As such, it's understandable that they'd ask about this.

  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: There is no comment made about a character's design.
  • Enforced: The show already does a lot of lampshading as it is, so why not lampshade some tropes about the character designs?
