The Outside Agency is a Dutch Hardcore Techno act composed of DJ/producers Noël Wessels (DJ Hidden) and Frank Nitzinsky (Eye-D). They have a Genre-Busting musical style, as they produce a variety of hardcore with elements from several other genres. Their tempos are extremely varied too, ranging from 110 to 280 BPM. Their Signature Style includes dark and brooding atmospheres that both artists add to their music.
Albums
- 2005: Scenocide 101
- 2010: Scenocide 202
- 2012: The Dogs Are Listening
- 2017: Scenocide 404
- Darker and Edgier: Than more mainstream Hardcore Techno producers. Their slowest songs tend to have the darkest atmospheres. The sound design of their work is the musical equivalent of Psychological Horror.
- Genre-Busting: Blending old acid Techno, Ambient, Hardcore Techno, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Industrial, breakcore and orchestral music
- Genre Mashup:
- End Boss standing at 240 bpm (read= 4 beats per second, so that’s slightly faster than your usual hardcore techno (160-180bpm)). With that title and speed, you’d expect something terrifying and aggressive, but it has an oddly soothing melody that wouldn’t feel out of place in a progressive house song.
- Levitator – Hardcore Techno meets Creepy Circus Music
- Wait Your Turn – Dubstep meets Speedcore
- Last Note Hilarity: In a lot of their songs there is a Stinger quote from a film or TV show or even merged quotes from different media, for comedic effect. Often used as a direct answer to the song that preceded them. Here are two examples
- Signature Style: Aside from their usual grim atmosphere another more humorous element of theirs is the Last Note Hilarity (see above)
- Shout-Out: The Wandering Mind to 2001: A Space Odyssey, Cautionary Tale to Repo Men, Godspeed to Pandorum, Macrossed to Macross Expanded Universe (the opening sample is from Voices from Macross Plus)
